Sorry I can't say either way...... I've never run one, I've got the TRD off-road so I don't need one thankfully.

When I used to drag race my daily driver, I put a Tru-Trac in and would beat on it severely.... And I had 0 issues with it ever and worked fine for daily driving everywhere.

The way I understand (no experience) is that you must have had to adapt your driving to the Tru-Trac. If your foot is on the accelerator while turning, the diff is locked - causing one tire to have to slip (chirp). Also, I've heard that when not loaded the Tru-Trac makes a very noticeable ratcheting noise. Is this correct?

I'm just trying to ask the right questions to help @mahaloTaco make the right decision for his needs.

I've used lock right lockers and they're not the greatest on the street....or in parking lots. I've scared the shit out of unsuspecting bystanders(and myself) with the occasional BOOM from the locker during certain maneuvers. The clicking during turns was also weird.

save up for a real truck with 4x4.

Dont even bother with the idea of going with a stock elocker axle as its gonna need hacked up wiring as it wont just be plug n play.

if you want a locker ARB is gonna be the way to go.... i will say 2wd with the rear locked can sometimes get you through flexy stuff easier than 4wd with open diffs. Then throw a locker on 4x4 and you are unstoppable!

So true. I would just save for a TRD Off Road 4x4 and be happy for life. 4x4, rear locker, A-Trac, the perfect 4x4 truck
