Oil catch can

The method you described earlier, will cause a check engine light, and stumble like Justus said. The reason being that with your idea, the hose on the pcv valve was left open. If I read that properly. The intake would then create or be the sucking side of the pcv system. Since the large hose on the passenger side valve cover is after the MAF sensor, unmetered air would then be pulled into the engine, and the ECU wouldn't be able to account for it. Thus triggering a CEL.

To properly do it, you'd have to do it like @Lucario Runner did. Cap the intake tube's port, and the intake manifold's port. Then run both valve covers into the catch can, with a breather filter on the can.

I say like his because he is the closest to "stock" relative in comparison to mine. His is routed the same as mine, except my setup is for a turbo, and that would cause confusion to some as, it always does.

These hydrographic covered valve covers look simply stunning.





We modified the PCV ports so that they would accept 3/8" NPT to -10 AN fittings, for the catch can rerouting.

Then came can installation and custom bracket.

Wuts a terbo?

 

Installed the catch today. Had to trim the dip stick cause it sat to high and I couldn't lower the bracket any farther due to the pump sitting behind it.

Just joined the two hoes with a male to male adapter rather then try and get behind the engine to the port.

 

Why not go directly to the motor? That's just an extra failure point you've created.

 

I don't see how it would fail... And I will go all the way to the cover when I have more time to make enough space to get back there.

 

How is not the worry, it's the possibility. Always easier to do it right the first time.

 

So true you are. I have to get some fender clips (broke a few on dismantle) and I'll extend the hose when I replace the clips. Just wanted a closed loop for now.

 

Gaa that hose is so hard to reach. I didn't use a clamp, it's very low pressure any way. It slid on tightly, the original hose has that weak spring clamp, it slid right off.

 

Tell me about it. That hose is somewhere under there.

 

Fixed it

 

My fat hands could barely fit so I just ran a hose coupler as well.

 

I was bruised for a week getting that hose on. Needed one more joint in my arm.

 

I think what helped me get it on the back port was my bumper. I was able to stand on the hoop and get up on top of the super charger.

 

Yeah. I stand on a Home Depot bucket. Sometimes it sucks to be short.

35000mi update. Almost full bottle of PCV oil has NOT been recirculated into my Tacoma's intake. I interpret this as a Good Thing
