I'll help you if you'll help me, haha. I actually just taped and dipped my flares, and it came out blacker than black. You could also just repaint. I don't think any of the wipe-on stuff will keep them black for very long. I tried the meguiar's back to black, but it was less than a month before they looked like I hadn't done anything.

What does etching primer do? Does it get the wheels really clean? I'm thinking of painting my wheels because I hate them too, but I have a little pitting, and I'm not sure how to best clean them.

    Thanks! Nice truck btw

You can also use a heat gun to restore sun damaged plastic. There is stuff on YouTube about it.

I just use "Back to Black" plastic restore gel on my fenders. It lasts about six months if you do it right and it's pretty easy just wipe on and wipe off

Etching primer just etches the surface of what you are painting. Etching creates more surface area. More surface area = better mechanical adhesion.

Pretty sure self etching primer is only recommended for use on metal and fiberglass (material used for the 98-00 fender flares).

As for the flares... I just primed and painted mine.

I just did a little 30 minute drive in some light traffic and I think my engine over heated or something. It started kinda knocking a bit when accelerating and when I pulled off the road it felt like a vacuum line was disconnected and it died after staying stopped for 20 seconds or so. Everything looks normal in the engine bay.. Hmm

    (Any advice would be welcome)

Didn't throw any codes and I know the CEL still works because it lights up when I turn the key half way.

After doing a quick search that's what i found, would make sense cause I've replaced a lot of stuff and not that. There was some hesitation on acceleration too.

    Damn $277 on camel back..

How important is it really to only use toyota red? I was a little low a few weeks ago and topped it off with some green pre mixed coolant, said it was ok in toyotas and i never really thought about it until seeing some stuff on here earlier

It's not important. I've ran green in 3 Tacomas with no issues.

Well now is the perfect time to replace the pump anyways because my bed is in my back yard... Maybe I'll just grab one off rock auto or something, I read that denso's are good.

Only thing Im worried about is the knocking..

So I did a little experimenting... I just stuck a pod in my turn signals to see how it looks. I can't decide if I like this or not. Any input would he appreciated. Also how hard is the blinker location mod?

Did you do the tundra brake upgrade? If so which one did you go with 199 or 231? How are they? Do you actually notice a big difference?

You should tell her I gleefully drove 3.5 hours to go plunk down cold cash on this puppy with 100k miles on it. And all it did in my hands is get better.

Did my first major 2nd gen mod today.

    Tailgate antitheft hose clamp.

    Look at me go.

    Just look.

    If you can even.

Hang on, I didn't have my gut sucked in enough...

Finished my winch installation and got my pod light brackets finished and installed, nothing is wired though, it'll have to wait a little bit.
