Bed seems tilted?

Not sure, didn't measure that but probably will now. I am hoping the main dealership looks into it more than just measuring the suspension.

 

Oh the paranoia, it seems to occur in so many. Just kidding... to me it seems that there is a bit of a tilt to the right. I know you visited the dealer, but have you checked the leaf packs? Not just checking to see if they're flat, but mounted on the correct side? The leaf packs are side specific, so if the truck's suspension has been modified that could be a possibility. Measure the front as well to see if the taco lean is present and compare the results to the rear end measurements. Just to be on the safe side, check the front springs as well to ensure they're in the right location. Color codes are available through some other threads on here to determine the specific side.

 

Could be. Did you do the altitude test to ensure each tire is on level ground? Just need a military grade GPS and Waskowitz to quit driving that Rover on mars with chicks, at least get hot chicks.

Get a 6' level and check the ground leveling. If it's off by more than 1/4" then your picture is invalid. Honestly I don't see anything wrong with how it looks. Check the hood leveling, it's probably not perfect either. That is easy to fix.

See if someone has a level warehouse floor you can park on and take measurements. A laser measuring device (Home Depot), a 1" square metal tube 6' long and a few other devices could make sure.

Take all the tires off and put it on the ground, take out the tire equation. If still off remove the suspension and put it on the ground, just the body and frame?

I do see a unstable solar panel on the roof, it's not straight and all the electrons are moving away from the holy sun instead of going into the magic cable box. That worries me more.

 

I didn't check to see the sides, no. I suppose that is something I can check fairly easily. Oooo color coded. Sweet. I think even I could handle color coded stuff. Yeah, I may be a bit paranoid to be honest but I don't want to be one of those who bought a vehicle with a hidden accident history. I didn't buy the truck for the resale value but sure felt it when I bought it. I just want to make sure my investment is sound.

So we are talking about approximately 1/4 of an inch difference. Really? It looks reasonably level to me in the picture. Much ado about nothing IMO.

 

Was supposed to say 31 and shy of 1/4. I typed that from my phone. You can see in the picture how much it is canted. I have one of it parked at the dealership as well next to another tacoma with it very noticeable after they told me they found nothing and referred me to call the service foreman of the main lot on monday.

Nope, no thread for the giant door ding I got 3 days after buying it. Not sure why the passive aggressive stuff. Had several used vehicles over the years. None had anything lopsided. Came from a 2014 WRX I purchased new in 2013. No complaints there. My issue is with the fact that something is off. If it is a warped bed, no big deal if I can fix it. If it is frame damage (which could be a possibility, even if low probability) I want to know. Toyota will have explaining to do on a "certified vehicle". Not all accidents are reported. It is the only vehicle my wife and I have. I switched to a truck for reliability, versatility and comfort due to a disability over a sports car/sedan. The safety of my daughter also comes to mind. I can understand my vehicle having a potential issue is not a big deal to you, but it is to me. Hopefully it really is much ado about nothing as JimmyH said.

 

If you're looking for a solid answer, your best bet is through the dealership. We don't know the condition of the truck, the previous service history, or if the truck actually has a problem. Suspension parts vary among vehicles, so there isn't an all around "answer" to everything. We just share our opinions and thoughts on the matter. The dealer should be willing to serve you. If the dealer you have in your area isn't up to your standards, I'd consult another one. My local dealer is garbage and treats their customers like pests. I have to travel an extra thirty miles to another dealer that actually cares about me, but it's worth it for the service.

 

Yeah, I get it and completely understand. I appreciate the feedback and advice given thus far. As for the dealer, the main lot I purchased it from (service foreman) was very receptive on the phone and willing to look at it tomorrow. Hopefully they will serve me. I don't expect the world from a dealer but a little bit of customer service goes a long way. I posted this originally to do just as you said, share opinions and thoughts that more experienced toyota owners might have. Even if they aren't ones I would consider friendly. It is an online forum and I have thick enough skin.

 

Is the gas tank full? If not that may drop the drivers side down to level. Regardless im sure it's nothing

 

Yeah, I checked it after filling up again today but was the same.

 

Yeah it's just difficult to troubleshoot the problem in your case. There are just soooo many things that could be causing a "lean" so to speak. I read on here that someone experienced a similar issue that turned out to be taco lean. They placed a 1/4 inch spacer on the driver side and the truck appeared level again. There isn't a way to tell if the truck was like that from the get go considering car fax isn't indicating much. But then again, it could have been repaired by a local shop who didn't report back. If the truck had been in an accident, you would most likely see gaps within the panels. Look at the door jams and see if they match one another. The gaps should be the same width on both sides, otherwise it could indicate a replacement.

 

ah good idea. I will check the doors tomorrow. It likely is nothing serious but the internet and google searches are like going to WebMD. You go to look up a pain in your toe and it tells you that you are dying of a tumor in your brain. Only things I found were worst case scenarios like frame issues on used trucks and the likes. I have a good mix of paranoia and genuine concern going on I would say, hah.

 

I completely understand, I tend to worry over nothing. Your most likely viewing the truck like it always has been. I highly doubt their is any frame damage. I don't think anyone's Tacoma sits perfectly level without a little lean. It bothers you because you notice is everyday while the average person won't unless you say something about it.

 

Hah, true. That and now I stare at every Tacoma bed when I see one and when they are level... part of me dies inside

 

Not to play devils advocate, but you could buy a lift kit to solve your issues.

 

or would it cause more! Yeah... if I can get my bow sold I will be buying a lift kit. Thanks to this forum I realize where any free cash will go now. Eyeballin the OME kit

 

Just ignore them, they would do the same thing if they bought a used truck and noticed after the fact this bed lean, I know I did. I know your not doing this because you "want it perfect" (although you do), but your going through this because of the possibility of an unreported accident thus making its mechanical reliability in question. Even though the dealer said mine was good to go I couldn't stand it, especially when I bought trees and such and my truck almost sat on the stops with 4 2 gal trees (certainly not enough to do this), SO I ended up saying enough is enough and installed OME Dakar's on it, bed tilt solved, collapsed leafs solved, increased load carrying ability added as well as lift. They are just pulling your chain because somewhere in time they had theirs pulled

 

Just take off one shoe and it will be level!
