Feeling Loose

    98 Toyota Taco
    I am new to this forum thing so will do my best at describing what I have going on. I have a 98 Taco 4x4 2.7, 4 cylinder. At highway speeds the truck feels loose at here lately it has felt loose at any speed. It feel as almost you have went over a dip n the road and the stering is adjusting to the road. I have replaced the shocks and struts with Monro stuff, the outer tie rods, and have put new 31x10.50x15 Michelin LTX M/S on in the past year. It just recently started doing this and it somewhat concerning to me. I have had the alignment checked and everything is there and nothing is loose under the front end. I have somewhat reached my wits end with this issue. I have had someone tell me to replace the steering rack bushings, however, before i throw more money at this, I guess I am looking for some confirmation this may be the problem, mainly because I don't trust the source. I hope I have described this god enough for someone to help

    Replace your inner tie rods and your steering rack bushings.

    Welcome! Sounds like the whole front end is replaced except the steering rack, why not just replace it? I'm not really understanding your terminology 'loose' .. sorry.

    my 3rd gen 4runner had this issue.

    the new steering bushings took care of it.

    Just look at the build thread
    Steering rack bushings and inner tie rods should tighten up any play in the steering. But if it's not just the steering that feels loose, it would be wise to replace the ball joints as well. Especially since the lowers are prone to failure. Ask me how I know :anonymous:

    You only have to do it once ... it's also about $5k .. I've had it saved up in an Excel spreadsheet for a while now :anonymous:

    Edit: Idk, I guess first gens might be more pricey?

    Wohohoah .. one thing at a time there. Why with the fabbed spindles? Just beef your own, if they bend just buy another set and beef them up again.
