Limited Service Campaign for Corrosive Resistant Compound

Finally got the news that I can pick up my truck tomorrow. It has been 3 weeks and a day since I have dropped it off to have the frame replaced as well as replace some other parts. Here is a picture one of the service guys sent me. This was a few days ago. I actually stopped by today and checked it out since the beer store is next to the dealership (lol) and the truck looks great. I will pics of the finished truck as soon as I get a chance.

 

does the frame come with a new spare tire holder? looks like it's a chain vs. the cable that i have

 

So yeah I spoke with my case manager, a loose term mind you, and he was talking and talking for about 10 straight minutes without letting me get a word in. He said that the wait is averages 150-200 days but that they have increased production by 4x due to demand. My main concern was the fact that my dealer hasn't gotten a frame in over 2 months and that my truck is behind 6 others. By that math I won't have my truck back until the fall. He had no answer. He couldn't even look my new frame up yet which indicates it hasn't been manufactured. Four months and waiting.

 

took 6 months for my frame to get in. just deal with it, worse things in life to worry about.

 

It's the frustrating lack of communication. I certainly appreciate the fact that Toyota is standing behind their vehicles but let's remember that we're talking about the best selling small pickup in America. On the heels on the next generation release. The last thing corporate wants consumers to remember is a rusted out frame. Just be honest and communicate to the dealers with some sort of consistency.

 

Did you have to pay for the Replacement exhaust??

 

Yes it is a new holder along with the chain.

I put $2,400 into it between the exhaust, struts, shocks and power steering rack and pinion, all free labor so I couldn't pass up the opportunity. They also replaced the 2 ply rear leaf springs with 4 ply as per the recall and with all the new parts, the ride is great now compared to what I remember. They also buffed and chromed the bumper where it was real rusted and flaking apart, you can see how rusty it has gotten in the past 2 weeks, I wish they would've just sanded the flakes off.

I have had my truck back for almost 2 weeks now and the weather has been rain every day lately, so I delayed taking pictures until today. The process took 5 months for them to get the frame in and 3 weeks for them to tear it apart and install the new parts I needed. The truck was out of alignment when I got it back because it pulled to the right and today I decided to test the 4WD and as soon as it engaged, it shook real bad. I noticed a shake at around 60MPH that I never had.

I took it back to the dealer today and they fixed it for free and the mechanic said it was likely due to the new parts and this can happen, no big deal they took care of me. Bob Massie Toyota in North Huntingdon, PA has truly been exceptional as far as customer service during this experience.

And here is the final breakdown of all the parts involved. One of the service desk guys showed me the Toyota paperwork and the final cost to Toyota was approx. $11,700

 

I had my truck frame inspected last Friday. I was kinda hoping for a new frame. Mine does have a lot of rust but they found no holes. So the verdict for my truck is no replacement. I am having it in for the frame coating next week.

 

Frame graveyard at local dealer in Md. they sprayed mine and after 9months still ok per dealer tech. hope it stays that way.

 

I got the news yesterday. NEW FRAME!!!!!!!!!!! So grateful. My truck has 149K on it and needed the front end a-arm bushings/ball joints replaced. This couldn't have come at a better time. My intermediate shaft U-joint is bad, so they are going to replace for the cost of the shaft. I am going to have them install my Icon Stage 2 when they do the frame. Will not be charging me more than $150 to do so. I didn't have any holes in the frame, but when the tech hit my driver's cab mount, it put a sizable hole in the frame. This is my second go round with frame rust. Even though not as good as the first buy back, I'm still grateful that Toyota is still standing behind their product.

 

Ok, Why would they post a "warning security video" sign on the Scrap pile sawhorse???

8 months. Still no word on my new frame.

 

My dealer is so nice that he said if there are any parts i need form the frames to just take them b/c they only get 3cents per pound for them one of these days ima gonna get a set of spare lcas

 

But why would they post a "warning security video" sign??

 

Because scrap metal is big industry and there are people who would steal those frames. Maybe this dealer or even Toyota Motor Corp itself has a process setup to collect money from the scrap metal to help offset the cost of replacing the frames.

 

I'm scheduled for new frame next week.
