Mine had a solid frame and needed two fenders and a bumper. I paid $3,300 and felt like a got a great deal at the time. I put wheels, tires, a roll bar, an ARB, CB and a few other goodies into it and ended up selling it for $3,300 when it needed a timing chain and failed inspection for a LBJ issue. I should have listed it for more, I could have easily gotten it.

If the rocker is gone, see if you can't peel back the inner fender liners and check the base of the firewall. My truck was basically almost 100% rust free in the body (the driver's door was just starting to have some rust on the inside seam, which wasn't visible from outside) except that one area.

Having the 22RE rebuilt is killer. It's funny because everyone touts those motors as unkillable, which may be true as long as you don't have a bad timing chain guide.

I did my timing chain, water pump, oil pump last year . I think the 22re is the easiest engine I've ever worked on . But I've been looking at swapping in a 3rz . See what happens over the winter .

Nothing wrong with that. It only becomes an issue when you start looking into $2,000 retrofits. (No, I'm not looking at $2,000 retrofits, I'm swearing off any truck purchases for the forseeable future.)

Go with the 5vz if you're going to swap.
