Best excuse is I'm new here. But....I've done a fair amount of looking and I don't see a discussion forum dedicated to winches and/or winch mounts. Maybe I'm just overlooking it. Maybe not. At any rate, looking to make decision and buy my first winch in over 30 years. Things have changed. I'm starting to focus on a US Offroad "hidden" mount, but still have no clue which winch I want. I've owned 3 Warns winches "back in the day" and tend to like what I'm familiar with (Had 2 of the old "8000lb-ers" and a 6000lb, when models were very limited) Now there are literally dozens of brands and models.

OK....Here's what I want. A winch that works with the mount I'm considering. I won't need huge pulling capacity. I'm thinking 6000 to 8000Lbs will be PLENTY. Looking to spend as little as possible, but get as MUCH as I can get (reliability scores high with me)

Like I mentioned, it's been 30 years since I built a rig like I want. This will probably be my LAST build. I wanna do this right. Plan is to build a dependable ride that'll take me and the wife on a 6 month cross country tour of the back country of America. Not any severe off roading, just want to be able to go where we want and depend on getting in and out.

    Suggestions please!

I did a high speed scan through the thread. If I can't find my answers in there, I might as well just give up! Lots of good info.

I've just about decided this is the winch mount I'm going with. It has a low impact look I'm after, but also looks strong enough to hold up to hard use. Since that winch is one of my favorites, your combo is the front runner all the way around. Thanks.
