I have a 2014 200 XC-W that I just recently added some Powermadd bark busters. After adding the hand guards my speedo and display won't activate with movement of the front wheel nor am I getting a speed reading or mileage. The display works, just no input from the wheel sensor or similar I assume. I've pulled the headlight and checked are rechecked all the connections. In fact, when I reconnect the wheel sensor the display triggers on.

Any suggestions on where to start? Possibly a common problem w/ a fix I'm not aware of? :fingerscrossed:

I have lost 5th gear 3 times in my YZ, pretty much the only weak point that bike has. Now I am way more careful to make sure I fully engage 5th gear otherwise 1 mis-shift will cost me $350 in parts and that getting everything nearly at cost.
I replaced the springs in the spur hub and replaced the spring with a stronger one for the internal shifting mechanism and its been good for 9 months of racing so far which is pretty good for me!

Check continuity in the speedo exciter wires, might have in internal break that's not obvious, pretty much has to be that..

so how many gears are you replacing? after i tore mine all apart i ended up getting all new shift forks, shift drum, oil pump, 4 gears, cam chain, shift shaft, lever, and all the gasket bs and it was well over 700 with just parts :(

are you talking about #8 as far as the spring??

Mine is a 2 stroke. All shift forks 3rd 4th and 5th drum was fine.
I can't open that link from my phone but it's the main single spring off the shift linkage and I get parts at cost from sponsorship.

Hey guys, new to this race. I've found that having one of each is best. KTM 250xc and an 08 yz450 for the fast open sandy races in Florida. We do a lot of hare scrambles. The 250 is light and nimble hauls ass through anything. The 450 just keeps pulling no matter where. Lazy mans bike in the woods for sure. Awesome that there's a few bike threads in here.

mainly asking speed freak this but if any of you have experience in desert/dry rocky terrain, which tire are you liking the best? I just finished up a set of mx52s and they chuncked pretty bad after just two rides.. I was told by a buddy to check out the maxxis desert IT but no where in town stocks them.

I always had good luck with the Michelin star cross as well as the maxxis desert. Both very stiff.

If you ever make the mistake of moving to the east coast you won't be happy with the stiff tires. Dunlops and Pirelli are popular here.
