Looking into maybe getting one of these. Wanted to know if anyone has one of these things and what sort of problems should I be looking out for.

It's a Ford enough said. Just kidding. Mustangs are awesome. My neighbor has a vortec supercharger on his 06 I believe. Sorry I don't have any tips. Good luck.

I had a Bullitt (can't remember the year) and really liked it. However, I had a Camaro SS a couple of years before that and the Mustang wasn't even in the same league.

Alright, my dream car would be a Vette, but it's too long for my garage, as is the Camaro. The Mustang would just fit into my garage, thus for my question.

hard to find yes, but not impossible. majority of the 03-04 cobras will be worn out. but if you look hard enough you will be able to find one in good shape. hell, one of my buddies has owned 2 now that were both in prestine condition. just got to take your time and not jump on anything too quick.

I bought a 2003 GT brand new, and eventually traded it in for a truck. I also owned a 2000 GT with a 160,000 miles. Both were 5 speeds and ran great. The '00 was sold and a supercharger was thrown on it and it lived with those high miles. The 4.6 was really brought to life 99-04. The parts are cheap, and they are easy to work on. If I can swing it I would like to keep my current '86 GT convertible and buy a low mile '04. The only thing you really have to look out for mechanically is the 99-01 had composite intake with the composite coolant crossover that cracked, my 168k GT still had this when I got it, but you need to replace that with the improved intake with the metal crossover on it. Its easy as hell to do though. As with any mustang look it over real good for previous accident damage, especially in the radiator support and inner fenderwell area. Also check for torn/cracked torque boxes where the rear control arms mount to the body. The tremec 3650 in the 03-ups also liked to make noise and mine did it brand new, change the fluid to GM's syncromesh. On your test ride shift quick from 1-2, and 2-3 and make sure it don't grind. You really can't go wrong with the "new edge" 99-04 cars, they ride decent, and feel a lot more refined then the "fox" cars did. The LT and LS camaros may have some more balls stock but are expensive to upgrade and a bitch to work on (optispark anyone). Everything under the hood of the f-bodys is buried. I also had two of those a 96 Trans am ws6 ram air and a 93 Trans am. I'd take a '99 up GT any day.

Yeah, my friend has a couple Camaros and I peeked under the hood, not much space to put your hand anywhere. Thanks for the comprehensive tips, bro! Anyone know what kind of mileage I can expect from the 4.6?

    Too few to list.
I've owned an 88, two 89's, 94 and 95. Three was standard and one was auto. The auto had an over drive problem but the manuals had no problem. I can't remember up to what year most of the parts were interchangeable but the chassis was a weakness stock. They all drove fairly well and easy to maintain. I know the newer ones were an improvement overall. The mustangs were nice and compact. I did however also owned two camaro's and a firebird. 68 and a 89 and 02. The 350 spanks the mustangs any day.

Not looking to do any sort of "racing", too old for that crap LOL. Just wanted to feel some American V8 power under my ass. I guess I'm hitting middle age and needed to feel young again.
