Most in here fell victim to the DB thinking it is fully functional off road. Especially those who went with the early version of PC or Fabtech. Now we have BDS and I think that BDS has a decent product. They have squeezed the most clearance out of a DB as possible. Shit even PC has re engineered their design. If you want it, it will get you into the big truck look. You can easily stuff 35s and do some fairly decent exploring of trails or malls if that's your thing.

Now that I have my '15 on 3" and have stuffed the same size tire I had on my DB with minimal effort I have more ground clearance. Sure I don't have the breakover but that's what a belly full of steel is for.
Plus, no vibs and its much easier to get over blind hills. These are just a few of my lessons learned.

Why are you still in this thread TRAITOR! Maybe some day I'll weld up the missing cross member and join the previous DB club. I don't think I've spent enough money yet. :annoyed:

BTW, I already know how DB lifts are totally incapable of wheeling ...... unless its at the mall.

I didn't say incapable, shit I took mine into some nasty trails after I replaced the uppers, lowers, coils, leaf pack and shocks. The same shit you are about to do. I still tore up the DL and it was the lack of locker that killed me. Regardless, I still love the look of the 3" over the DB anyday.

My db was quite capable offroad after dumping roughly 10 grand into it. But there is a limit I quickly found.

 Right on. I have a belly full of steel on my truck (IFS, mid, T case and gas tank, etc.) and have scars on each one. Not a fan of the couple of inches lost in clearance but it is what it is....

The big thing that I wanted to do is lose those stupid ass compression struts. Mine were getting bent and Ryan's are completely fucked. We came up with a really good skid/support idea but I scrapped the project once I decided to strip the 08 and sell it.

I hate that crap too. I had a custom skid made for them. It works pretty good.

Db's are not worthless...if you do it right. I put thousands of Baja miles on mine and broke everything on the truck but the actual DB parts ...no kidding. He is interested in buying my whole rear set up possibly, I am selling the whole rear end springs and all since I am doing these :

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
This is going to be an argument that will never end. DB vs MT vs LT. It really all depends on what you need your truck to do. I personally am running a DB lift and my build is leaning toward an Overland style. It works for me and as it is my daily driver I will never wheel it so hard that I am concerned that I will break something where I can't get back home. I am looking at buying a second vehicle that is designated as off road only. That will be where I drop the real dough into. $$$ If it doesn't have to be street legal I can do much more to it. maybe a rock crawler and a baja rig???
I am interested in this?!?! I still have my factory springs on blocks and am looking to upgrade. What did you do to your rear end? Do you already have a confirmed sale on the parts you are taking off? And what is this that you are doing now???

I was more so referring to the amount of cash spent by the feller above would have been gotten more bang for the buck if he'd have ditched the kit. That's all.

I had one, It saw malls and wheeling. I decided it wasn't worth spending the loot to continue down the dB rabbit hole of sub par performance. Proprietary parts that are not readily available and those stinking strut bar whatchamacallits.

Umm yeah...well since Aaron spilled the beans - I'm out of the club kids... After we started tearing the truck down for the rear 3 link I came across an amazing cash deal on a Solo Motorsports front +2 kit as well so I'm one week into a 3-4 week rebuild front and rear :

Bye bye DB it's been real...

    image.jpg

OE bumps perches gone to make room for bumps cans and Solo double shear kit installed :

    image.jpg

Mock up of shock towers for 12" dual rate CO's that do NOT penetrate the bed and link mock up showed us 20-21" bumped and strapped rear travel :
    image.jpg

Had to track down some OE spindles and add gussets :
    image.jpg

    Solo +2 uppers :

    image.jpg

 I will do a pretty thorough write up on the DB removal, cross member patching, the $600 in OE front diff mounts and OE hardware I had to buy :facepalm:and the cross member patch and front diff rear mount we had to fab.

Agreed. That is why I will not put to much more money into DD. Sliders, bedrack, cabrack, winch.... For serious wheeling I will build a separate vehicle.
