i have decided I would like a different rear setup. I currently have icon rr +2" shocks and all pro standard 3" leaf pack. I would like something for around 1k total that's not as stiff as this setup w reservoir shocks. Ready set go

I've been wondering the same. I've got the Skyjacker Softride 2.5" lift leaf springs with ICON non resi shocks and while the ride is very planted over rough terrain, it is quite stiff.

    *INB4 this isn't a cadillac.

anyone else wanna comment on their 3" rear lift they are running? Will fox shocks in the rear ride softer compared to ICON RR?

I just read in another thread someone recommending the All Pro rears to avoid a stiff rear end.

I just put Full Dakar Leafs on mine. It's stiffer than factory. ;)

I have the All Pro standard rears and they are pretty dang stiff to me? Wondering if anyone has ran the All Pro standards and switched to Dakar leafs. Which ones are stiffer than the other? Does anyone know if Fox shocks in the rear will dampin the ride from the Icon's?

I am thinking most leaf packs are much stiffer than anticipated when swapping out the factory ones. They are rated for a much heavier load and for handling off road beatings. I am hoping that Fox's may ride a little better than ICON's. Waiting on a response on All Pro v Dakar leafs.

I would have to say that the Dakars are more stiff than AP standards. The Dakar pack has two overload springs thus they won't flex as well as either AP pack.

Thank you that was exactly what I was needing to know. Ill stick with the AP's. Does anyone add weight to the rear bed (sand bags, concrete bags, etc.) to weigh it down some?? If so are you losing gas mileage and is that a good idea? I am in FL so no snow or anything for that to be necessary other than the ride quality.

Bilstein 5100's w/ Eibach coil overs in front (set at 3" of lift). Front diff drop kit. Extended Bilstein 5100's in the rear. Deaver 2" AAL in rear w/ axle shims. 285 x 75 r 16 Goodyear Duratracks. Wheelers steelies type B, AFE cold air intake. Sway bar delete. All Pro Apex front bumper (rattle canned Rustoleum primer + flat black). Plasti-dipped emblems. Mud flaps removed.
Alright I may be a little out of place here since I only have an aal. Sand bags in the rear definitely helps with the ride quality some. As far as gas mileage goes, it will decrease according to how much weight you put in. But the aerodynamics of the objects you add for weight have a big impact on gas mileage. For sandbags there is little to no aerodynamic drag so they wont affect mpg as badly as some high profile mass. I carried 300lbs of sand for awhile and didn't even notice a change in mpg.

I am going to stick with the AP swap the ICONS to Fox shocks and let you all know what the difference if any is. Thanks for the replies on the Dakars and yeah I think I got over 3" on the rear too with the AP standards. Ill probably add a 100lb concrete bag in the bed and see how that does

I have AP standards with fox reservoirs on the back. I also removed one of the leaves from the pack so I got right at 3" of lift. It is still VERY stiff.

Yeah I am debating on doing that. I have no clue how hard that would be and I have about a 1" - 1.5" rake in the rear. I wish I could lift the front more but that gets into possibly messing my CV axles angles up.

I ran AP on my Tacomas and thought they were firm but not a bad ride at all... with Fox rears too.

Probably a stupid question but what would be the cons of running the stock leafs with better shocks, they are "softer" right?

Well you wouldn't have any lift from just upgrading the shocks. The stock leaves do seem pretty soft though. If you want no lift and just a better ride quality you might do this but I think he wants to still achieve 3" of lift in the rear.

Correct looking to achieve and keep the 3" lift - the stiffness. On another note upgrading the factory shocks while keeping the stock leafs makes a huge difference ride wise. I did that before I started lifting my truck.
