    Hi all,

Any assistance would be appreciated! I'm helping my wife's friend look at trucks, she is dead set on a Tacoma because she loves the way they look and knows their reputation for reliability.

She loves the way the upper model range trucks look (fender flares, bigger wheel/tire combo and more aggressive stance), she has a set budget and mostly base model trucks from 2007-2011 fit in it for the mileage range she wants (less than 100K Miles)!

    My questions as follows:

How hard would it be to give a base model truck the appearance of an upper model range truck?

Is is just a matter of fender flares and a larger wheel/tire combo with A/T tires? Or is a mild suspension lift required?

I have a rough Idea of how much the added items cost, in your opinion is it worth the cost/effort/time to beef up a base model?

it will never look exactly the same as the suspension is the biggest difference.

if you slap bigger wheels and tires on you will be limited to 5 lug wheels so you cant just use a pre-runner or 4x4 stock wheels.

just sell it and get the one you want. it will be much cheaper than way.

    Are you looking at 5 lug 2wds or 6 lug prerunners/4x4s ?

Ah Ha Conumdrum! And I suppose the stickers readily available from TRD?

At The Helm, I went and saw a couple with her today. One of the trucks we looked at was a 2wd with 5 lugs (I think) but had bigger Toyota Wheels, A/T tires and fender flares. Also the stance was higher than the 2 base model 2 door trucks we saw.

I found a 2007 Extended Cab Base Model with crazy low miles for a good price, just wondering if it can be beefed to give a more aggressive stance.

You're going to be really limited with the 5 lug Tacoma's for what it sound like you want to do. The suspension is different, but there is a small lift available for them (fat bobs). I would suggest getting her a prerunner (2wd on 4wd suspension/chassis) in the base model or SR5.
