I've got a slight rattle coming from the engine compartment but only when the truck is in a higher gear (4th or 5th, usually 5th) and the rpms are low, like around 1000. Anybody had a similar issue?

Does it sound like ball bearings rolling in an empty tin can?

Yeah, pretty similar to that. Maybe not rolling, more like lightly shaken.

    LMMFAO......................................

then its prolly the rotors in the blower..............around that RPM it will make a clacking racket..................well known.

    kinda like the shutdown racket?

I avoid low RPM like that as if it was aids.

It's barely noticeable. In fact I doubt I could get good enough audio from inside the cab to make it worth the time to try to record it.

It's possible. I had a 2010 that I put 50k on and never noticed it. Guess I need to keep the rpms up.

Yep, precisely. I only noticed it once today and it was on a long, windy, uphill climb right after a downhill run. So the truck was in 5th as I entered the first curve. Started rattling as soon as I gassed on it again.

Well, that depends. Imo, a tick is something that has a regular and consistent pattern. A rattle has no consistency to it. Forgive this goofy example, but for instance.

    Tick:
    Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta

    Rattle:
    Tata ta-ttttttta-ta-tatata-tatatata. Ta. Lol

Not sure if I hear it at idle. I'll have to spend a little more time with it. Only had the truck for 5 days.

the tick from both n/a as well as f/i sounds like an exhaust leak almost.

the blower is LITERALLY a rattle....................go to ur truck, open hood..................start it, leave door OPEN and lean out and listen to the truck when it shuts down and u will hear the rotor rattle.

better if u can remain outside and have another person shut truck off.

also I believe the "tick" should be driver side dominant

What octane gasoline are you running? It sounds like loading and pinging to me. Try a higher octane gasoline for a tank or two.
