brent, if you are bolting your bumper to the stock bumper mounts it will still retain the factory crumple zone built into your frame. As far as hrew vs dom, everyone has their own opinion. I personally prefer dom, but I re rally don't worry about if I crash. I figure it'll either be serious enough I'd be screwed with either type of tubing or it'll be minor enough it really won't matter. I prefer to build things out of dom, but that's just because I feel it's a superior material and not a whole lot more expensive

As some of you know, I'm a "displaced" prerunner. I'm active duty and have spent the last five years Missouri, which has zero prerunning. Absolutely no place to use my LT suspension for high speed.

I'm in Alaska now and just found five miles of whoops, bumps, and jumps. I'm happier than a 12 year old who just saw his first Playboy magazine!

Rear end was dialed in great, front end needs a rebuild but still did well.

Anyone in here at Eglin AFB? Saw a black 4x4 double cab with baja front bumper with lights, built right LCAs, king coilovers and bypass with king rear shocks and SUA, Glassworks I believe, awesome lookin tire holder in the bed and a folding light rack with 4 lights, also had north Dakota plates with a tw sticker on the back window. Gotta say...if you are in here lol, you got one badass truck, I left a note but not sure if you got it. Parked at the white sands inns

If you have time this fall and wanna swing down towards Anchorage, Green Tree Fab will be putting on the annual King of Knik race. There's a mod class and a super stock class.

So I got my new greaseable cam adjustment bolts in and was shocked to find it was only a set for one LCA! I thought it was a full front set for $100... oh well the other side came out so I think I'm just going to wire wheel the corrosion off and antiseize the crap out of it!

So I guess while I'm in here, I'm looking long term here for an LT setup, thinkin of going with camburg front and rear since their site is so easy to get everything I want and navigate, but the one thing I was curious about as I haven't looked into much yet, is SUA vs 4 link, they seem to both offer the same amount of travel. I saw engage has a self locating 4 link rear, but I've also heard some bad things about engage, which kinda turns me away from them

if your 2wd check out @DTFtacoma 's kit. i have it and promise you won't be disappointed. $600 more than the camburg kit. but your getting fabled spindles, boxed ucas, hiemed ucas, bigger uniballs, and more travel (up to 19"). can keep shock in stock coilbucket, uses your oem hubs only welding is for the limit strap tab on your frame. in my opinion much better deal than the burg kit. that being said you won't have any issues with a camburg kit they make good shit.

Leafs and links are opposites. Not just in travel numbers but in basically every other way. I know this is super vague but that's because it's such a huge subject. You've got a lot of reading to do.

Just saying some of the pros you listed for DTF's kit are cons in my book

With most links you will need a fuel cell (stock tank is in the way) With a fuel cell you won't pass smog inspection.

You shouldn't be out running a SUA set up without a roll cage anyways.

It's a hell of a lot more than just installing a "kit" regardless of which route you choose. If you can't weld or do basic metal fab it will get very expensive very fast. You can't go full racecar on suspension without paying the piper on all the things that must be gussetted, upgraded, or routinely repaired to go along with it. Any rear LT set up is going to require welding and fabrication.

Most trucks in this thread have gone through power steering racks and pumps, broken engine mounts, broken radiator/headlight support structure, broken wheels, etc.

There's not an LT truck out there that hasn't seen the shameful side of a tow truck.

Not trying to scare you off I just want to make sure your choice is made knowing the reality of what it is rather than going off which website is easiest to order a "kit" from. You have a lot of reading to do before jumping into this.

That's half the fun though, build it to break it to build it back up.
