Hey guys! Im looking at getting some new shocks on my 2014 TRD and I found 4 new Bilstein 5100 on Craiglist....I know its not the brightest idea but there 225$ and Im trying to save some cash for the school year, so my questions is whether or not its possible to test shocks to see if they have been used before you put them on your truck? Is there a machine that tests pressure/longevity at a tire shop or maybe a mechanics? Or just look for normal signs of wear an tear, tightening marks, scraps, etc. Still new to the truck upgrading world...Thanks for reading

    Yes sir
Yea, +1 for buying new. But as for your question, brand new shocks should look, well, brand new. No scratches, rock chips, wear, etc.

Im going to wait until I have enough saved up for brand new shocks. I've gotten a few different quotes on installing them and Im still not convinced their giving me the rite price..besides getting an alignment how long does it usually take to install 4 shocks?
    -Thanks

With shop tools and shop convenience it shouldn't be more than an hour/hour and a half. It's a 2 hour job in a driveway with hand tools.

+2. Although I don't have 5100's in the front yet, I did just swap some ebiach springs. I have rear 5100's and front 5100's will be coming soon. Not terrible hard if you follow the write ups on the forum. Rear shocks are child's play

Look around on here and see if you can find some local TW members. I'm sure someone would love to help and even let you use his driveway and tools.
