Help me decide! I am going to be purchasing a bumper from Pelfreybilt. I damaged mine so why not replace it with one of their awesome bumpers!

The steel is bumper is about 50-55lbs heavier than the aluminum and needs stronger springs up front to handle the weight. The price difference is about $350. So do I get the steel and put the money saved towards the Nitrocharger or Bilstein/886 and do the lift at the same time? Or do I save the weight and go with aluminum and do the Nitrocharger or Bilstein/885 (still deciding between the Nitro's or Bilstein's) lift down the road?

Anyone running a 55lb bumper on stock suspension? In my case 4x4 non TRD.

Any major disadvantages to going with the steel? Has anyone actually experienced a loss of mpg's with a steel bumper?

Are you going to put a winch behind it as well? If so you might as well get the lift out of the way, and I always say steel over aluminum but it's a preference.

I will be purchasing an aluminum one when I submit an order.
Two main reasons: lighter weight and no rust.

I have a steel Pelfreybilt and it's beefy. I'd go with steel again if I had to.

I've got a Pelfreybilt aluminum bumper. Even with future suspension upgrades I didn't want the added weight of the steel bumper. Both will easily support a winch should you decide to put one on in the future and (other than gouging if you hit a large rock) the weight difference is why I went with it. That and it will never rust. Yes it cost more but it is worth it to me.

You can't go wrong either way with the Pelfreybilt bumpers. Full hoop steel bumpers weigh #120 and aluminum is half that. Both will have excellent build quality.

I got aluminum for weight savings. I also considered that I'm not a rock crawler.

Does a steel bumper cause more wear and tear on the front end, i.e. uca's, etc?

Shouldn't. That said you will likely need to upgrade the suspension for the added weight. Otherwise you will be nose heavy
