Truck Camping Photo Thread

Um well..... Here's a pic.

Don't mind the fridge, toaster oven and electric tea kettle.

 

Costco had two sizes available this Spring. The smaller 4 person was $77 IIRC. They also had a Coleman 10x10 screened insta-up shade/event tent. It was around $70 as well. The easy up tents are worth the extra expense. They really are easy to put up and take down. I don't hate tents anymore.

 

LOL. Well as the family was ENJOYING the campground I was going here. Am I ok now???

Damn, I didn't realize people bring their 2-car garages with them

btw, those Action Packer boxes are nice. Fit in the bed of the truck perfectly! Picked one of those up couple of months ago

 

It does as long as your truck is parked inside the garage sized tent.

Comfort and space is nice. Big tents set up just as easy as baby tents.

 

So not true, LOL!!!!

i can set up my small tent by myself faster than 3 people can set up a big tent.. haha



BUT, big tents are nice sometimes..... especially when its pouring or something and you need to run away, haha!

 

Haha. I much prefer my small tent for setting up and taking down. It's an REI 2-man half-dome I bought almost 6 years ago now and it goes up in 2-3 minutes if I'm motivated. I bought a big (well to me) 4-person REI Basecamp tent and put an air mattress in it and that's what I've been living out of since May 15th in various national forests (while commuting to work) to avoid paying rent for a few months.

The Basecamp 4-person takes a good 15-20 minutes to get setup and the rainfly staked down. The small tent doesn't NEED stakes for the rainfly, but lacks vestibules for gear like the big tent.

The big tent + 22" high air mattress is almost as comfortable as a regular bed; not so with the small 2-man and a self-inflating camping pad.

 

Ok good. I could drag the camper anywhere and use the battery for the lights and the other stuff using the invertor but the campground has electricity of course

So speaking of the campground, it's not exactly ruffing it. Here's just some of the stuff they have and this place is only $40 a night

Here's a couple with it in the background. Biggest knock on the tent is rain protection. But I was in a 6 hr pounding storm with flooding under the tent and still stayed dry.

This is the 10x10. Fits me and my wife in cots, my baby in a packnplay, my daughter on a pad and my 70lb dog on a small mattress.

There's nicer ones out there but for price and ease it's hard to beat.

 

Very nice. We're looking for a 6 or 8 person tent just like that. Will be used a good bit this fall if the temps are nice.

 

I must get some of those action packers! What size did you guys go with?

 

48 gallon. Fits perfectly between wheel wells.

 

Just got this tarp made not used it camping yet just trying setting it up in my yard
