Hi, my clutch is squeaking and it's under warranty and I am looking for a good service department that can service the TSB and not make it worse for me. I haven't had good experiences with a few of the dealerships I dealt with and it's been a long time since I dealt with Toyota dealership.. Yelp is all over the map...so appreciate a recommendation for service advisor and tech to do the job. Thanks!

Most of us can recommend good shops to go to for this. Unfortunately none of these are located at dealerships. Best look to yelp for the lesser of the evils.

Thanks for the reply...but if this is a TSB, I can't just get the parts...it has to be serviced by the dealer. If the parts were cheaper...I just buy it and get it done, but it's not. So looking for a good service department and can fix right first time and not complicate matters.

If you can get down to Toyota of Huntington Beach, John Keller:thumbsup: in the service dept. is cool. I had some issues with 2 advisors for lack of intelligence and a couple techs for doing lazy BS, like going to lunch and eating in my truck and changing my radio presets. When I told John about that he was surprised and asked if I wanted to talk to the service manager. I said no, I wanted only him to handle service affairs from then on. Which he did, like a professional service advisor.

I am looking for more in Los Angeles area...but that doesn't sound so good. John would be good service advisor...but he's not the one doing the work right? Having some techs eating in your truck and messing around with your cars is not a good sign for good shop. I had service done at rusnak bmw and you can hear the porter squealing the tires on every turn bringing down the car from the multistory garage. My wheels were chipped broken off where they removed the wheel and rocks in my front spoiler and cracked bumper from the test drive... I didn't notice until I got home. I had several BMW dealers do bad service work and 1 toyota dealer...so I am a bit jaded or have more experience on the matter.

Looking for a tech or Master tech that will take pride in their work. There are independent shops you can see what they do and do quality work, but the parts for this TSB isn't cheap. Be nice if I can just get the parts and install them myself or pay an independent shop to do it.

As far as mechanical service goes, I never had an issue there. And as far as that other nonsense goes, after my conversation with John everything was peachy pretty much all around in the service dept. I bought my truck new there and had it serviced there until I moved up here last year.

LMAO! John Keller used to be my neighbor back when i was a teenager!Cool guy!Purchased a brand new 2007 Tundra back in that yr and he was the only service advisor that i would use.Sold my Tundra in 2010 for financial reasons and purchased a brand new 2012 Tacoma that from Toyota of Irvine(Power Toyota).Very dissapointed in there service and knowledge! Now i'm back at Toyota of HB and John Keller once again is the only service writer i'll use!Good luck @imom!Sometime's you gotta travel(hopefully local as possible)for legit service!Good stuff Jim(@Navelfunk)!

google maps right now show a 2 1/2 hour commute 63 miles. While I appreciate HB Toyota referral...doing this during rush hour... it'll take a whole day or two to complete. It's not realistic for me. Service adviser is only part of the equation...proper tech or master tech to do the job is the most important.

I am considering Bob Smith Toyota...all this is a crap shoot...I wish there was a tech or master tech who can promise to do a good job that's little bit closer in Los Angeles.

Oh yeah, I don't miss any part of driving in L.A. & O.C.:annoyed: Except for doing Mullholland Dr. from PCH or the 405, either way, that's a sweet cruise... Try Ocean Tire in Hermosa Beach. It's just up/down the street from Rocky Cola Cafe. I used to work for them & I know the family.

I wanted to update this thread. I had my clutch TSB done at Bob Smith Toyota. I was happy with their work. It's a smaller shop, but the folks working there seems pretty happy and the work I haven't any issues. The clutch is about the same or slightly better...but the noise is gone...have to wait until the hot summers again to really find out.
