Why would you want a hot bumper?

The exhaust isnt that hot by the time it leaves the pipes. At best the bumper tubes get warm. Not a big deal.

I actually would be more concerned about vibrations rattling the pipes.

 

If that's all it takes to keep people's paw prints off my vehicle, I'm in!

I think I would have double walled it in the bumper. That way it wouldn't get hot and there wouldn't be condensation in the bumper tube, trying to rot it from the inside out. It does look nice, but I'd be careful if you ever put that bumper under water, it's all downhill to the front of the truck.

 

The pipes coming from the muffler actually slope down under the cross member. I asked him about water and he said you wont have any issues. And the piping isnt welded to the bumper. Its flared out and then theres a thick piece of weather stripping around the flare so theres no metal to metal contact. No vibrations and it still has some flex so nothing can crack over time.

 

I might drill some drain holes in the bottom of the piping though just as a precaution for the condensation. Probably a smart idea.

 

That's good, at least it was considered. Time will tell, hopefully you don't have any issues with it. Smart move not welding it to the bumper. I wouldn't worry about condensation, once the engine is hot it will just boil out. I'd be more concerned with water or mud if you put the ass end in the water. You could get a lot of water in the pipe all the way to the muffler in a hurry and mud won't bake out. For someone like me, it wouldn't be an issue but if you actually off road your truck it would suck to have a problem out on a trail.

 

I definitely off road it, but that can be an issue for anyone. Unless you chop the exhaust off at the goose neck over the axle. But iv never had an issue before with mud so im sure ill be fine. I just drilled some holes in the lowest point of the tubing for any water that might get in so i think im all set now.

 

Stacks. That's the only viable solution.
