I went with the short bed on purpose. I wouldn't buy a long bed, frankly.

A sled in a short bed might fit but I definitely agree that even a long bed feels too short...

If you want to go off-roading get a DCSB. If you want to use your truck get a DCLB. That's my opinion anyhow. I figure it like this - if I can't lay down in the bed of a truck what's it's use?

I sought out a DCLB intentionally so I'd have bed space to put objects in if and when the need arose. And the idea of putting a shell over the back and camping some day meant a short bed was next to useless. Not to mention seeing DCSB's in town with tool boxes in the back. Doesn't leave much room to put much else in the bed!

    Not enough...
Pretty happy with a short box. Hard to carry a ladder when the bed is loaded (shell does not help either), but I got a roof rack on it's way. Plus a long box would not fit into my garage.

Yeah I actually measured my garage before I bought my DCLB. ;) LOL Had to make sure it would fit.

I agree that short beds are way better for off-roading. I've been in some pretty tough spots wheeling where I have to Austin Powers my way around a corner and make a 12 point turn to catch up to everyone. But there's no replacing bedspace even with the hitch extenders for daily use.

I like my SB and as a daily driver, off-roader and for carting the dogs around it is a great rig. I have cursed on it many times when needing to haul a longer load but then just borrow my father F-250. I have always owned manuals but next truck I get will be an automatic and most likely a Tundra when the next gen comes out.

My dad's '97 F350 Crew cab. Now that's a truck. Huge cab, plenty of leg room and height, 8ft box, diesel.

But if for some reason, I needed to get ahold of a bus stop. I can count on you right?

A network of personal loitering stations. Impressive. I bet you have an impressive collection of trenchcoats, too.
