I've looked with mixed result. Some say 2.25 some 2.5

I'm looking to buy a muffler. What Diameter should I be looking for in and out? 2.5?

    Thank you

I remember doing my muffler I got it in 2.5. It was just a bit larger than the piping, which tells me it is 2.25 piping.

U should go 3 and let the blower work easier.

It's pointless unless you do headers, which I plan on never doing anyways.

    It's METRIC tubing, not 2.25 or 2.5

Oh that's right, a lot of the problem is the Y pipe huh.

Metric? There goes Toyota doing funky stuff with it's product again. Lol.

2.25" inside diameter. Don't mean to buck what Brock has to say, but if I were to rebuild my exhaust I would go 2.5" from the collectors back. 3" is too much for these trucks IMO. Too much low end lost. Isn't worth it for a few horses WOT.

metric exhaust tubing is pretty common anymore, it's nothing new. 2.5 will never clamp good enough and 2.25 will be too small. If you weld on a 2.5 your going from small to larger back to small, which is kinda pointless and it'll rust like crazy

Use stainless tubing and stainless wire. Or go all out and TIG is with 304 and 318 rod.

Early models were ~2.25" . '09 up were changed to ~2.5".

If you want to be 100% for yourself, and don't have calipers, use a tape measure and something that can snugly fit over the tubing. Then measure it.

Is Y pipe 0.25” above stock before both tubes meet into the catback which I believe is 2.5”?

is there even a point to Y pipes?
Will their added width lose scavenging?

to me high RPM couple HP at the cost of difficult smog and other potential drawbacks is not worth it
As it’s a low RPM torque truck

I’ve probably got 5+ hours into fighting underneath the truck to install Y pipe including broken stud
Has me thinking WTF am I doing and is this even worth it

reroute at exhaust shop would’ve been $300 = call it a day.
Clearance to put a flat xfer case skid.
