    I REALLY tried.... but I required a man's strength.... I had to drive 40 miles to my dad's house to used his gear pullers to get the freakin fan part off the actual motor... it was all rusted together and PB blaster wasn't doin the trick... plus i don't have any wire crimpers so, he was nice enough to do that part for me too :) i TRY to be mechanically inclined....

    My 98 Corolla's light is on a lot. I found out the oil it burns was fouling the cat. After I replaced the cat a third time in 3 yrs to pass NY state inspection I bought an O2 simulator and no more light.... :D Unfortunately now it comes on every couple of months or so due to something with the charcoal canister or evap emissions system.... Complicated, expensive, and lots of different things could need replacing. So I just clear it with my Scangauge and it's good for while. I have 198k on it now though. You might be in for similar things considering the age and mileage. A good code ready will help if you don't have one already. Being a 96 I don't think it's OBDII, but you might be able to get a scanner for it. Or a way to make the lights flash and figure it out. I replaced the starter in the Corolla twice too. That was also a pain in the ass. :rolleyes:

    I think I'm going to drive up to the local car parts store and have them hook it up to their thingy-mc-bob that tells what the lights mean... hopefully they can tell me... hopefully it won't be too expensive or hard to fix... We don't have emissions testing where I live... kinda hard to believe because people here are very into being "green"
