Coming home from work today and traffic started on the highway. I came to a stop and so did the guy behind me but the Indian family behind us did not. Smacked right into him and pushed him into me. No injuries, no airbags. Called insurance and did all the formality stuff with the police/ fire department. Anyone care to play insurance adjuster? Lol

    '14 Trd sport 4x4. 18k miles.

I know I'll need a new bumper and trailer hitch. Don't think there's any frame damage that I can see.

Not worries man I should have said everyone's ok. The family that hit the guy behind me was probably going 30mph when it happened.

And yea the silver lining is I can go bumper shopping haha

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
    Glad everybody is ok.

Keep in mind, when bumper shopping, a steel bumper will cause more damage to you, your passengers, and the truck frame if rear ended again. The steel bumper will make the bumper/frame more rigid, causing the force to be transferred directly to the frame and those inside the truck.

Good to hear no one was hurt.

Your bed looks perfectly aligned with the cab - probably no damage to the frame. The sheet metal lines on the rear tailgate all look good as well.

Judging by the Camry that hit you, I'd guess it was either a young kid playing with a phone or an older person who wasn't totally with it. I don't think it was the millionaire-next-door-type who willingly choose to drive 90's style drive toyotas.

j/k...doesn't look too bad actually. Looks like just the bumper and maybe some bent mounting points I guess the silver Camry acted like a buffer...Usually the frames are an issue but in your case it looks good from the outside.

Since he dove under your rear you should be fine

Off topic but your bed looks so incredibly short in that 3rd picture. Ha. Weird angle I guess.

Bumper is directly mounted to the frame, and bumper is bent downward. Probably frame is bent also.

the factory bumper mounts are designed to crumble without harm to the rigid frame, looks fine to me.

By Indian do you mean Native Americans? Or Indian from India? Would really like to know, would help me assess damage.

Glad you're uninjured and sorry about your truck. I was rear ended a few years ago. Honestly can't say that I recommend it. Had a headache for a couple of days. No one seriously hurt though. Did you happen to watch the driver of the car, as it impacted the car behind you? The reason I ask is because I watched the guy that hit my car. I was first in a line of five stopped cars involved. The driver was trying to reach something on his passenger side floor and not watching the road. When he finally did look up, and saw the stopped line of cars in front of him, the look on his face was priceless. It sounded something like this, "BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM!

You can't tell if the frame is bent or not without taking it to a shop and have them do a frame inspection. Since you're not paying for it, just ask your body shop to put it on a machine and measure everything. Your truck is only a year old.

Sorry about the truck, I'd bet the insurance company will only replace the bumper mounts and just repaint the bumper and reuse the hitch. Agree with other posters, you should defenatly ask for the frame to be measured. If the insurance does not, you're free to do so on your own and hold it against them if they try and only replace parts.

Also, that's too bad about the Camry probably only had 300,000 miles on it. Probably would have lasted another 200K with a little TLC.
