I like the side plates on your bedrack. Keeps things a little safer and cleaner I bet.

Moon Camping.jpg Lake 1.jpg Got out and used my RTT this past weekend. These tents are amazing, it makes me want to get out more. Does anyone else always have people asking them where they got it and such every time they open it?

Every time I'm around other campers. Usually in Yellowstone or Teton park. Everyone stops to ask about it. The best is when you're all zipped up inside and you get the slow drive by or the late night dog walkers talking about it as they stroll by.
You learn to get all of your camp chores (cook dinner, clean up, make fire) BEFORE setting up the tent. Otherwise it's just constant interruptions and burned dinners.

Happened to me all the time when I camped out at the beach in my old truck. I really need to get it mounted on the Tacoma =/

To each their own, I prefer having to slow down a little for corners for better comfort where i would rather be, offroad. Maybe one of these day's i'll take another look at making a disconnect though... In the mean time my 886's means my body doesn't roll anyways, so i'll finish up some of my other projects.

    Funny story
The very first time I used mine, I had a truck pass by stop and then back up. About that time I hear, in a 10-12 year olds voice yell, Nooo waayyy! Then I heard the dad say that's one of "those" tents and begins to explain RTT's to his wife and kids. I couldn't help but start to laugh.

Kids reactions are the best. I still remember the little kid who came screeching to a stop on his bike and just stared like  for a second before taking off again. Few minutes later he came back with his dad (who was a little embarrassed, thinking they were intruding on my campsite) and the dad apologized and told me that his kid wouldn't shut up talking about the "transformer truck" down at the end of the campground  I let him climb up and take a look around, he thought it was the coolest thing ever.

And then there was the 80 something year old lady who was wanting to climb the ladder to inspect the whole set up. I was a little reluctant, afraid she'd slip and break a hip or something....

Any general consensus between CVT and Tepui? Build quality. Customer service. Waterproof-ness. As of now I'm leaning towards the Tepui rugged Kukenam (I like bombproof tents), but sounds like CVT is coming out with a similar line soon.

    Looking at the 56" models.

    Thanks.

I put mine on if I know I'll be driving just pavement. But it stays off most of the time since my truck isn't my daily driver. I have 700lb springs and still get enough body roll to not want to corner fast.

As for being asked about the tent...had a few people ask it. Some know what it is and ask how I like it. Others have no idea. But pretty much everyone likes the idea of them!

Here I go! I'll report back in 11 days when I have cell service again. Houseboat on Powell for a week and then 3 days camping at the Grand Canyon in my new Mt. Cayley on my AccessRac.

I love this set up and can't wait to test it out.

    Wish me luck!

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
Without having the bedrack and RTT on the truck I am very happy with the sway bar removed. 886s are stiffer than my back after a cold night spent on the ground. That said, it'll go right back on if I'm getting a lot of body roll with the truck outfitted. I've heard rumor there are quick disconnects out there, but if not I bet there are some that can be modified to do the job.
