So it's going to pass an emissions test. Didn't see any other numbers in that...

This thread got me thinking that MPG data might be on the EPA site. No dice. No mention of the 2016 at all. I did look to see when MPG data was posted for prior model years. The dates vary but all were reported on the EPA site before August. So either they do not have the data yet, or the EPA is holding the data until toyota has their big release.

    Looking at the emissions!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE V6 delivers 1/2 the emissions as the 2.7L!!!!!

    @UL Gasoline LEV3 NMOG+NOx(9g/ml) CO(g/ml)

    2.7L Composite
    CERT 0.0413 1.31
    STD 0.110 4.2

    3.5L Composite
    CERT 0.0254 0.63
    STD 0.110 4.2

ALSO!!!!!! LOOK at the TACOMA 4WD D-CAB MT OFF-ROAD it is avaliable.
EDIT: The CERT is the certification the engine was given for the green house gas and the Carbon emissions.

No flippin way!!!!!!! I cared soooooooo much about emission crap!!!!!! Seriously though emissions don't really matter to me. All care about is does it run and how reliable it is.

Well if you live in California you would. If you don't pass the emissions test, you can't register your vehicle = you cannot drive your car (anywhere).

Damn. Maybe I am nuts, but does a very low emissions engine imply high efficiency?

One can never have too many light bars.
These are just based on the Engine submitted, not the actual vehicle. So any mpg numbers wouldn't be accurate.

The last generation corvette C6 with cylinder deactivation qualified as a ULEV. So I don't think theirs any correlation with Emissions and Efficiency

Hmmm. I am surprised there isn't a fundamental link of some kind. Meaning, if an engine is ~30% larger (2.7 vs 3.5L) and makes (150hp vs rumored 270hp) ~70% more power, yet only produces ~50% emissions of the smaller, less powerful engine....those particles/kilo-joules/thermodynamic-whatchamajiggles have to go somewhere. Wouldn't a more complete burn that produces fewer leftover "stuffs" for the tailpipe also imply that the combustion efficiency and therefore burn of the gasoline is also improved? Ignoring catalyst differences/all else equal, etc.

Makes sense to me, but I don't know jack about the details.

Also, isn't the C6 like 26mpg highway? (uber tall final gear, I know...but still).

Okay, here's a source saying C02 emitted is directly related to MPG:

Good find... Now lets look at other gas vehicles that provide the same emissions.. oh wait... the Lexus IS350.

    Lexus IS350 MPGs
    19 city 29 hwy
    22 combined.

My estimate for the 3.5L V6...
    18 city 26 hwy
    21 combined.

Also. The engine was categorized as a LEV3 ULEV70 engine. http://www.dieselnet.com/standards/us/ld_ca.php#leviii
According to the table it says that the engine has a durability of 150,000 miles and still pass emissions. (It is part of the LEV 3 requirement)

Another requirement to be considered LEV3 from this site is:
Direct Ozone Reduction Credit. Manufacturers receive an NMOG credit for direct ozone reduction systems (such as ozone reducing catalysts coated on vehicle radiators). The in-use performance of the system must be monitored via an OBD strategy.

So there will be more emission tinkers into the V6 than we think. Its going to be packed full of electronics to make sure it is using every ounce of energy coming from gas.
