Bumpers toast. It's bent in several places and cracked as well. The hitch looks ok but I'll have to wait and see what the adjuster says

Glad your ok, the truck doesn't look to badly damaged. The trailer hitch might have saved the rear from more damage.

That sucks what a way to end the day, good thing you were not hurt. The only good thing is that you were hit straight on, so your frame should be fine. I would get the body shop to do some measurements to make sure. If you were hit more on an angle the frame could possibly get tweeted. Good luck with the repair.

    Curry flavor.
Damn man that would be clutch. Shipping would probably kill me. If i don't swing a aftermarket bumper I might be interested.

Claims is taking a look at it Monday or Tuesday I'll update then.

Thought I'd make you feel at least a tad better. Truck had 1,310 miles on it, 5 weeks old. A white Accura rear ended it while it was parked and went under far enough to leave paint on a leaf spring mount. Frame needed work, cost was close to 5 grand.

Guy was able to get back out from under it and screw before anyone got outside to see what the noise was....never found. We know it was white from the paint left, and an Accura from their front grill laying in the street.

My dealership doesn't do frame work, so they farmed it out.....it didn't get back to me until a week longer than I even owned it.
Except for a shift in the backup camera, it's like it never happened.

Now the tricky part, posting pictures for the 1st time....on this forum anyway.

Man people are cowards. Instead of owning up to their mistakes they would rather run and hide. I would have flipped shit if someone hit my brand new truck then ran away.

No doubt I wasn't happy, but you can't un-ring a bell. It was almost funny at one point...I was out for a raffle at the local watering hole, not winning, no one hearing anything because of the cards getting called out, then the door opens and here come the question....."who's driving the Tacoma".....about 20 people look at this guy....for about 3 seconds, then all 20 are looking at me, because they knew it was mine.
Everyone spills outside to see the carnage, their eyes on me, waiting for a reaction....I was cool as a cucumber (but oh-so-pissed on the inside).
No foolin', I'm 53, my only other, ever, new car was an '82 Capri. That Capri was the victim of a careless lane changer only 13 days off the lot. I'm just carrying a jinx when it comes to new vehicles.

Back again to help the OP feel a bit better.
Came out of the credit union today to a little gift left for me. That fancy-dancy new-fangled paintless dent repair ought to do the trick, out of pocket of course as my deductible is 500 clams. I'm up to almost 2,700 miles on her...starting to wonder if she'll survive long enough to get to the 1st maintenance.
At least this is small potatoes compared to the 1st hit it took

the hitch is part of the bumper, not like a reese or something. Not sure the Toyota bumper/hitch really is any more solid against impact than just the bumper itself

Factory hitch is bolted directly to the frame. Because rear end collisions from cars usually impact our hitches directly, this causes a twisting motion to the end rails of the frame, resulting in a bent frame. Look closely at the C channel frame right in front of the hitch and I'll bet you see a ripple where it is bent. Good luck!
