Where does a guy find a decent gas can anymore!?

    I have noticed that since the regulations went into place regarding gas cans and the storage of fuel I have had nothing but bad luck when it comes to buying new cans. They all leak... Every single damn one of them. Does anyone have any suggestions for good brands/models of gas cans that they use? I am not concerned with whether or not they fit the new regs either. As a little more clarification I am not looking for something like Rotopax, but rather gas cans that you keep around the shop and use for filling lawn mowers, tractors, ATVs, etc. HALP!

    None at this time.
    Cycle gear. Search it and buy the cans they have for bikes. They say they are for water and fluid storage. I have 2 2.5gals and 1 5gal. They sell the adapters and hoses. You can put a pvc shut off on them. That or motor cycle super store. You'll find that bike cans are made pretty tough.

    I don't have an issue with leaks, but those spring loaded ones that release fuel on pressure (which seem to be all of them now) are awful. Great concept, but it doesn't take many months for springs to be flying out of the nozzle...then it just doesn't pour anymore.

    Agreed, there all junk. I have taking the spouts off and drilled a little hole up on top just behind the handle which makes the fuel dispense faster without gargling down to a trickle. Of coarse drill it with NO fuel in it.

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    I scored a nice 5 gal. at a garage sale for $3. With a sniff test, it's never had anything in it. I bought it as a 'spare' that I'll fill only if a hurricane is tracking towards us. That will give me 12 gallons in cans and 35 in vehicles. Enough to keep my Honda generator running for the fridge, fans and M/W for a number of days.

    I have one of these 14 gallon gas caddies. The crappy nozzle broke within a year, so I replaced the hose with a good rubber fuel hose, a brass propane shut off valve and a 6" brass nipple. It's all gravity flow at this point, but it fills much faster as long as you keep the tank higher than the thing you are filling (typically lift it up into the bed of the truck). One day, after the kids move out and I finally have more disposable income, I might get this 30 gallon gas caddy.

    They all suck these days. I bought a 5 gallon can at menards, and the stupid thing doesn't even have an air vent port on it anymore. I walked out to my shed when it was 90 degrees and the can was ready to explode. Wtf.

    If you're willing to spend a few more bucks from the start you could go with VP Racing's cans.

    Gold Plug makes a nice vent but it's $8, not worth it for cheap cans.
