Yep. I figured the lawyers would convince the family they have a solid case. The knee-jerk reaction I hear from NASCAR and Tony fans is "but he was high on the dang diddly Pots!" I don't expect the same marijuana demonizing here, but unless the examiner was able to measure Ward's metabolic rate and many other factors post mortem, it's hard to lay the blame of the incident on marijuana use. I wonder how many other drivers had ingested more mind-altering and addictive drugs in their systems at the time of the race? Surely someone took a drag off a cigarette, a sip of Monster, Red Bull, coffee, etc. I don't know about you guys but I've never seen marijuana make anyone aggressive. Tony Stewart even came out publicly and said the marijuana accusation didn't matter. A lot of our hero's images would be tarnished if drivers were drug tested "back in the day." Ol' Pops* comes to mind immediately concerning mixing recreational drug use and racing. Don't demonize the kid for using marihuana; he was simply a racer doing what modern American racing culture expected him to do. He was playing the role of young hotshot and it bit him. He's a Darwin Award winner, not a drug abuser.

I don't think cigs, red bull or coffee are mood altering like dope is. Only Tony Stewart and God knows for sure if he revved his engine to mock the ward boy for charging him.

 

This newest lawsuit is ridiculous. Only out for money at this point. You have to question the motive when you do it on the 1 year anniversary.

 

New York doesn't allow the family to make money in a civil suit. The only money they can bank is money lost as a result if the accident. So they have to figure out what kind of money their boy would have made had he not gotten out of his vehicle and got run over.

 

Joey Logano wins in another hard charging fuel mileage duel at Watkins Glen. This track consistently puts on some good finishes and great races!

 

Would've been a f'd up move by Harvick if he would've wrecked Lagano at the end there, looks like he wanted to. Good race though, won a couple hundred in draft kings! Mod money!

 

He came close to wrecking him. Just plain dirty when you're out of fuel.

 

Harvick is a turd. Like Carl Edwards, he'll play the good guy until his hand is forced, then the real person comes out.

 

harvick doesn't like logano he has said in the past that he is a spoiled little rich kid whose dad has bought him his career.

 

I've met Logano several times when he started out with Gibbs. Hosted a few HD NASCAR events. IMO he's a good kid.

Danica to "make an announcement" Tuesday. Let me guess...she's leaving NASCAR because she's realized she can't win?

 

no. its some stupid sponsor who chose her.... I get that she makes a lot f money, but did yall see Austin Dillon this weekend? heard nothing about him, yet danica gets more coverage who did nothing this race.

Austin Dillon is one of the most mediocre drivers in nascar, Danica is above him, but it is totally about a sponsor.
