Hi there. My name is Jared. I am the proud new owner of a 2000 Tacoma 3.4L 4x4. It is awesome, and I love it. It was my brother-in-laws truck (he was the second owner) and its been very well maintained. Literally a stack of maintenance records. It has about 252800 miles! But after having two different shops look at it, they both came back with the results that it is in excellent condition.

I am having a few issues since installing some upgrades, but I will post that in the appropriate thread.

    Some info about me:

I was in the Air Force for a short time. I was training to become an Officer, but during training one day about 6months into the program, I happened to re-tear my shoulder muscles requiring x-rays and such. Due to this, my academic scores dropped as I was out of sorts for about two months. I was later released from the program just months from obtaining Active status (they had brought in more people than they could fill spots and were looking for any reason to release you in order to fill the spots they had). So thats that.

I have always had a love and passion for cars, motorcycles, and trucks. Here is what I have owned / do own:

    • 2005 Dodge SRT-4 (300hp/320lbft): Sold
    • 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6R (140hp/??lbft): Own
    • 2006 Mazda 6 (230hp/??lbft): Own
    • 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse: Sold
    • 2001 Honda Civic: Sold
    • 2000 Toyota Tacoma: Own
Anyways, thats a bit about me. I am new to the trucking world, but I love my truck and cant wait to hit the off-road. I look forward to learning a lot from you all here. Thanks for having me!

    The Plans:
    • K&N Air Intake: Done
    • New Headlights
    • Bigger On/Off-Road Tires/Wheels
    • Magnaflow Exhaust
    • Paint
    • In-Dash Touchscreen Stereo w/GPS
    • Re-upholstery
    • Redo Window Tint
Thats really all I have planned out so far. Eventually it may need a new motor and driveshaft. But, yeah thats all I can think of.

Although Im curious if I need to upgrade my suspension by going with the bigger tires/wheels?

Yeah, I'd put a light lift on it, 2.5" or so... that will allow larger tires for off road use and the truck will look way better. Besides, that suspension is probably really used up.

Well there are a lot of ways to do it, based off preference and cost. If you're running original/old suspension, I might go this route: For about $1000 you're replacing your old shit and getting a pretty nice lift.
