Gotcha. From my quick research it seems as if transmission doesn't matter, but engine does...ie if the donor case is from a 4cyl, it wont work behind a 6. Probably has to have auto hubs too.

Awesome, I'm limited on my searching. Thanks
Shifter is installed but he didn't pay attention when he bought it, and he's currently in a helicopter headed to the oil rig.

    Here's a pic

Well if the shifter is installed, can somebody there see if it shifts in a j pattern or a straight pattern?

Looks like mine, and mine is a j-Shift, even parked in that weird position.

He didn't seem to motivated to have someone check and I'd like to stay on his good side to get it cheaper.
The more research I do the more it looks like it doesn't matter.
If I can get my hands on a wiring diagram it shouldn't matter.

Cool, looks kinda like my push button also :notsure:

I wonder what kind of wiring differences there are. Obviously you wouldn't need the electronic actuator, but do you need to add any wiring?

Hey guys, is the red dip stick on the exhaust side of the engine for transmission fluid? I think I need to add some more because a bit drained out when I separated the lines from my radiator.

Not sure, I think the switch for 4x4 is inside the Tcase and when you push it forward to H4 it does the same thing as pushing the button for 4x4.

Correct, run truck until trans fluid is ~160-170 degrees then check level on dipstick.

The dipstick on the passenger side is for the transmission.

It has a tab for cool and warm, so can't I just check it when the engine is cold? I don't have a transmission temp gage

Looking at the FSM, the shifter is the same whether it be j shift or add. MT is comes straight up, AT is moves to the side then goes up.

I'm looking through all the pictures and cant see an obvious difference in ADD or Jshift

All that its saying is that that is a 5 speed haha. Are there any other pics of it, or can you save the pics and then upload them directly on here? It looks like the actuator is next to the rear output, which you cant really see from the angle of the pic.

Oh, okay I got you. I'll probably check both just to be sure. Now I just need to figure out where to fill it...
