That only makes sense if you're constantly riding around with the regular leaf pack engaging the overload

So what you're saying is the 12" of regular pack riding on the upper overload would somehow ride different than 12" of the regular pack riding on an overload 1/2" lower ?

How would that effect the way the regular leaf set behaves ?

The first stage rests on the first over load which rests on the second overload. During very minimal up travel the first five leafs flatten out over the first overload. This overload doesn't allow for very much flex since its further supported by the shorter over load underneath it. This translates to a stiffer ride at minimal flex.

I get the purpose of the overload and I get why you would question me, but again my response is based on personal experience.

To me the improvement made sense based on what the pack was doing and how quickly the overloads engaged and is why I ditched the longer overload. The end result aligned with what I thought would happen, a slight improvement in on road ride and better flex when in the dirt.

For my use (on road and off) removing the longer overload was the better option, I tried both. I like the initial resistance from the first five and I like the flex of the single overload vs. the two when off-roading.

I've played with these packs quite a bit and this setup is just my personal preference.

Do you find the regular pack going into negative arch with heavy loads ?

When offroading I carry about 250 lbs (rough estimate) of weight and the packs support this weight easy with no frowning. As far as carrying heavy loads, I don't do so a whole lot, but when I do I have quick attachment bumps I install that reinforce the packs perfectly.

Makes sense , I have a constant 450 lbs then add load to that

Okay I've heard a couple of options but would like a few more opinions. Here's my situation:

Truck: 2015 Double Cab Prerunner Short Bed
Adding: Pelfreybilt Plate Bumper with center hoop 115 lbs. and Pelfreybilt Sliders w/ top plates 85 lbs.
Goal: Raise the front end about 2" after the armor is in.
Options: Billy 5100 Adjustables up front with either the 884 or 885.

I'm not getting larger tires yet as the truck is brand spanking new so if anything I'll wait till I jump up to 32" tires at 275/65R18

Thanks for any input or feedback you may have.

You'll need 886s. @tacomgee has a similar setup you want to have and is on 885s and is under 2" up front with bumper and sliders.

Cool I've thought of removing the overload for that reason. Removing the 3rd seams to make the pack too soft from the reviews I've read...

Lift going in today need some help fast! Have Taco Lean question. Having Dakars and 885s installed with toytec 10mm top plate spacers on my 2011 double cab long bed 4X4. Doing nitro charger sport shocks/struts.

My stock hub to center measurements are
    Driver: 20.5
    Passenger: 20
    Rears: 21.5

    1. So my drivers side is slightly higher before lift. I have read a few threads saying after putting in an OME lift there is "Taco Lean". It seems the factory coils are side specific. So can I expect to have the drivers side sag quite a bit after putting in my lift?
    2. If I have mismatched dakars I will put the + side on the drivers side. But doesn't a lot of the sag come from the front drivers side?
    3. Would I have to also to a trim packer in the front to bring it up?
    4. Can the trim packer be installed in conjunction with the top plate spacers I am doing? I am not sure where these install on the coil assembly.
    Thanks in advance!

So to answer your questions fast .. your new shocks and struts will cause the taco lean.. putting the + sided pack on driver side helps in general.. not a substitute for the trim packer .. the other thing is the trim packer goes on the shock itself.. you will see a ring/lip on the shock.. it slides on and sits there.. this should be installed before coils go on.. its impossible once its together.. one other thing is to make sure you have extended top hat spacer bolts for the 10mm spacer if not.. may not be able to tighten the top over the spacer

    Thanks Jeff.

Anyone have pics of installed trim packer or pic of shock and place trim packer goes?

So is it impossible to install trim packer at a later date or just a pain to do? I don't think the shop doing my lift has this part in stock.

I do have extended studs for my top plates.
