Hey y'all. I'm from Southwest Louisiana and am kinda new to the Tacoma world. We bought our son a 2008 Taco 4x4 crew cab SB TRD around March of this year. We put a 3" lift and some 275/75/16's on it in April. The truck has 166,000 miles on it. Dark Blue. It has several dent's/dings on it. We replaced the chrome grille and headlights on it. Our son is 15 (turns 16 in Sept) and absolutely loves the Tacoma. He gets his drivers license in Sept and it will "officially" be his truck. He has a permit now.

I was jealous, and just traded my 2012 Ram for a 2011 Tacoma 4x4 crew cab SB. Mine is Dark Grey, has the back up camera, leather and aux input on the radio (oh, and Sirius Satellite available) and has 89,000 miles on it. Other than that, they are just alike. I don't have a lift or larger tires yet. I am wanting to go a little taller with a lift and a set of larger tires than his. I was still thinking of the 3" lift, but adding maybe a 1" or 2" body lift. I want to be able to clear taller tires than his easily.

Anyways, his has an awful squeaking sound coming from the rear springs (we think). Our local dealer said that a new TSB was coming out for that, and that we should wait until then to worry about it. It is very embarrassing driving up or getting in/out somewhere. Has anyone had this problem? And if so, what was done to take care of it? We can spray the springs with WD-40 and it clears up for a day or two. But this is getting old, and expensive. I have searched a little on here for the problem. I was wondering if anyone else could give me some input about it.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mattgecko, that's a good looking truck you have there. What size lift and tires do you have? I want to lift our 2011, and I want just a little more than our '08 has. The 2008 has a 3" suspension lift, and 275/75/16 Goodyears. I was thinking of doing the same 3" lift, but add a 1"-2" body lift to give me more clearance for taller tires. I'm thinking of going with 255/85/16's. I'm hoping to use the factory rims.
I'll try to get some pics posted of our two Tacoma's today sometime.

Does anyone have any info on how to quiet the squeak coming from the rear springs?

    Thanks again.

    Im lifted 2 3/4" inches with 33" tires (285/70/17)

For the squeak I usually spray WD40 on the leafs, I'm sure there's a better fix out there.

Thanks for the info. We have been spraying WD-40 on the rear leafs too. Helps for a day or two, then back to annoying squeak. If I knew what it was for sure, I'd try to replace the parts myself. Is it the leaf bushings? the leaf springs themselves? I don't want to buy a complete leaf pack (for each side) and then find out it was the bushings or something else. Our Toyota dealer told us that there was a TSB out for this, but it didn't last after about 4-5 months of being installed. They said there would be a new TSB coming out around May, but we never went back to check on it.
No problems "yet" with the 2011 though.
