Did anybody used this product ? It says on the website that it stays flexible.
    Features
    • Flexible coating will not yellow, chalk, crack, or peel
    • Inhibits rust on steel under aggressive conditions
    • Commonly used as a flash rust preventive on welded areas
    • Withstands water temperature up to 212°F (100°C) and continuous dry heat up to 750°F (400°C)
    • Works like a hot-dip on ferrous metals indoors and out
    • Zinc-rich galvanized coating - Zinc Purity: 99+%
I am planning to hit all/any of my bolts with this, but wondering if I have to do this before I finish painting frame or I can do this afterward?

They have ditched Dana and switched out to Hino after 2009 model years supposedly.

I had heard it was more of a buyout with the same facility producing the frames under different ownership, but I have no source on that.

Either way Fluid Film is probably the way to go. I have the odd rust spot on my 2013 frame and I'll be fluid filming my truck in September when I have the time.

I don't think it's Hino. I believe it's Metalsa now. Ford uses them for the F-150 as well. Do you have a source?

    BlueT beat me to it!

My '11 frame still has the stickers on it. Maybe mine says Metalsa somewhere.

Well fuck. So much for that idea then. Lol.

Mine has rust spots right at the welds on the front ears by the control arms. And here I was thinking they switched makers for the frame. Stupid move on Toyota's part.

I wonder i it would be any good.

No real source, it was more hearsay.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. That will ensure a good bond if that stuff is the real deal.

I have not used this specific product, but typically galvanize and paint do not work together. When we have galvanized street lights or signals painted, the contractor has to apply an acid wash and then an etching primer before painting, otherwise the paint will just flake off. That's for hot-dip galvanize though, I am not sure how the cold dip will work.

Yeah, thinking of this chemically how is a cold dip galvanization going to get the zinc to adhere to the steel...

I touch up my frame a few times over the summer... Go off roading, get it clean again, touch up the frame and chip off rust, go off roading again....

This fall I'm going to use fluid film for winter.....

Every time I look at used trucks my frame look way better than even trucks a couple of years old.... One of the reasons I keep my 2010...
