Take a quick look at these two pictures, what do you think the issue is if there is one?

The first one is the driver's side, the second is the passenger's side. If it matters, it's a 2011 DC OR prerunner with 86k miles.

I'd say your rack seals are leaking.

Every now and then on the drivers side. Depending on how the wheel is turned it will give a knocking sound when going over a bump.

I would like to agree with this as well. According to an inspector for a warranty company that we shall not name at the moment, it is "seepage" or "a stain" but not the rack leaking. Truck has been sitting at the dealership since 7:30am on Thursday. Still waiting for the final word. I called them back and told them seals shouldn't seep as he stated. Seals are meant to seal. They are checking it out again.

Betting on seals. Had this issue on my other car. Leaked into boot until the boot was full then it would slowly seep out

Just got off the phone with them. They are fully denying any claim on this. Go figure. Guess I'll be taking the pro rated refund of the purchase price. Ends up being 44% refunded going to the principle balance of the loan.

Gotta love toyota, its disapointing, too bad they cant be like a lot of the vendors on this forum who will actually take care of their customers.
Good luck and share what the final or solution outcome ends up being

yeah that would be nice if all companies actually agreed to what they warrant. Unfortunately, it was purchased used at 53k miles. I've now got 86k miles and come across this issue when checking things out. The warranty is actually through a third party that I purchased with both my wife's Rav4 and my Tacoma. I had my wife's car worked on last month and the warranty company actually took care of it like they should. For some reason, they don't want to touch this issue with a 12 foot stick. After running back and forth with everyone, the warranty will be cancelled tomorrow morning and getting 44% of the warranty cost refunded back. It's going directly against the principle amount on the loan for the truck.

Thats good choice, I would image that 44% is a pretty good chunk of change! One steep closer to no more payments :bananadance:
I cant wait for the day I have mine paid off

That's true, it will be a nice chunk of change to put towards the final amount. It'll knock a decent amount off especially when you factor in the interest that I'll save on that. Sucks to have to cancel the warranty especially since it was good until 113k miles. I still had quite a bit left but it is what it is. I just hope I don't have any major problems down the road. Honestly, that may push me to getting either a reduced 2015 or.........2016 if they'll keep the payments the same and get a good rate :crapstorm:

Another factor, it is a Toyota, chances of you not really needing that warranty are on your side.
    Your options are smart ones

That's kind of what I started thinking as well. Figured it something major was going to happen it would probably happen after the warranty expires anyway which would be around 113k miles. I'd hit the mileage before the time ran out. I like to drive.
