We have a thread to show pics of the boats, but how about a thread for discussing boats and boating accessories in general?

First up, My pops has a pro-line 201 cuddy cabin boat currently and wants to sell it for something more stable at speed, and he's thinking of ditching the cuddy cabin and going center console.

Also, thoughts on catamaran hull vs monohull?

We are currently looking at a 25' Sea Cat SL5 (Catamaran hull) with 2 yamaha 140's on it.

Dude my neighbor has a 20' twin vee cat and loves it!! thing rides like a dream dude. However,,,,he has two 90hp outboards....2 motors 2x's the expense on everything. I have a 2004 18' regal bowrider with a 4.3 v6 190hp. dude I love my boat freaking thing will do 57 mph with just me in the boat. I use it mainly for island hoping and towing the little guy on tubes and wakeboards but it's great for hanging and partying...I was out on it all day today with my son and his friend before we hit bird island and partied!!

 

Good to hear, we do most of the maintenance on our boats so cost shouldn't hit to bad, but it is something to keep in mind.

Sounds identical to a friends boat, the 4.3 is a volvo engine correct?

F'in rained all day today.....No boat

 

having a small issue, hopefully, been noticing small oil amount of oil in my bilge area. seems to be somewhat murky. I had sprayed down my outdrive with wd40 and thought it might just be crap from that coming off but now i'm not sure. dipstick is showing that it is full. i've read places it could be oil pan or maybe a main seal. anyone have any clue? just noticed it the past couple of times out. had the oil changed along with the impellar in January and just started noticing it now.

 

Got a 23ft Custom weld paired to a Kodiak marine (basically chevy) 350 V8, Jet with a 9.9 Merc kicker. Boat literally does everything.. From deep sea fishing, rivers, to even wakesurfing Full RayMarine electronics with side scan sonar

 

I'd check and see if the oil filter is tight, and also check the oil cap.
Probably not the oil filter but it can't hurt to check.

hmmm yeah i checked the cap. i'll check the filter though like you said couldn't hurt.

Gone through 5-8 foot swells in it, not the best time.. But still a really fun boat.. Just wish we would have gotten an EFI engine

This is what my boat is and looks like. I have a tan stripe at the bottom instead of blue but same boat.

 

Its American Turbine's newer "gate", disperses the water evenly out both sides so at idle you don't spin in a circle. We love it but its loud (sounds good though) and a gas guzzler

 

cool. yeah my boat is actually pretty good on gas i guess. i'm gonna sell my boat found a great deal on an '06 regal 19ft'er that i think i'm gonna pull the trigger on.
