V6 knock sensor... why?

    Can anyone explain why on earth Toyota put the knock sensors for the V6 engine under intake manifold? Is it to convince us we're stupid not to buy the 4 cylinder version engine?

    No, its for this exact reason right ^ here. So people would complain...

    In all seriousness, I am sure harmonic resonance had something to do with it. 0therwise, it would be conveniently located atop the engine like the oil filter.

    They don't work on mine. I have to run premium fuel to keep it from pinging.

    13 tacoma TRD Off road.ARE shell no rust anywhere period.
    2 in spacer lift front 2, in AAL rear [tundra leaf] , flip up tow mirrors, ARE shell electric brake controller and cooper ATP 265/r70x16 tires on stock TRD wheels
    There is a TSB for that.

    Squeaking rear brakes TSB. Had it done. Didn't work.
    Noisy rear leaf springs TSB. Had it done. Didn't work.

    Have you learned your lesson?

    I assume that they found that was the most suitable location to detect a preignition knock.

    Or they want you to bring it in to Toyota for service.
