So I recently found an almost new set of BFG A/T's 285/75/16's for 450$. I really want to jump on the deal, but I want to fit them on my truck. As of now I have Bilstein 1500's on the corners and an inch block in the rear. I have in stock a 2 1/2 inch front shock spacer, but it is not installed.

What do all you experts think I should do to fit these 85's on my 2005 tacoma. My thoughts have been bump the billies to 2.5. Or I toyed with the idea of knocking the billies to .85 and putting the spacers on top of the billies? Another thing i've run into is my wheels. As of now they are the stock 16's. New rims or will just spacers on the stock rims work? Gotta get this quick cause I am meeting the guy in 2 days. Thanks everyone!

3 Tacoma's ago i had a 3'' lift strut spacer and stock 16'' rims - I tried to run the 285's and they rubbed the upper control arms ( and some fender plastic)- wheel spacers should help but i'm not sure about the 2.5'' lift only- im thinking a 3'' lift and wheel spacers would be needed. hope this helps!

For that money, buy them and make them work.

Get a set of 1.25 or 1.5" wheel spacers for the front and all you need to do is CMC (IIRC) and band on parts with a BFH to make them fit.

Pretty harsh ride if you ask me, But then some of that could depend on which coil spring is selected.
I did a OME , 885's,Coilovers and a 1/2'' spacer ( orginal nitro charger struts & shocks ) and couldnt be happier with the ride! Decently priced lift and great ride! ( Wheeler's Off-Road )!

When you first started modding your truck was the end goal that tire size or bigger and if so get them and make it work. if not then i would ignore them so your not spending more monies just to make them fit when you never even wanted them to begin with.

3 & 1/2'' - I also did the trim packer on the driver side- I've done both 3'' spacer lifts and 3" OME coilovers and MAN is there a huge Difference in height and ride quality!

My end goal when i bought the truck was to make it look 'good'. I am trying to decide where i want to stop with that, but I have always wanted larger tires and this deal seems to good to let up. I feel very certain I could re-sell them if I realized was going to need to spend more money that i wanted to make them fit. I appreciate what your saying though,... always something to keep in mind.

Pyrite15Taco, do you think if i threw the OME 885s over the Billies, that would give me what I need to fit the 285/75/16s?

I honestly dont think so, I'm thinking a wheel spacer will be needed for sure.

Once you start modding you never stop. There is always something to make it better or needs fixed so everything works properly. Toyota engineers have spent so much R&D on these trucks that i would just leave it alone if your not putting these tires on for wheeling purposes and only looks. My $0.02

Luckily, Trucko, found me a great pair. 4 spidertraxs for 180$.

Trucko, I agree with you. I feel that I am not really changing the truck a whole lot with this move, just its shoes. And like you all have just said it is infective but luckily after this move my wallet will cure me of it for a good bit.

Correct me if I'm wrong but 886's are for lift & stiff for winch bumpers and 885's are pretty much a medium stiffness lifting spring -

885 will give you ~2.5 and 887 will give you ~3 inches. 886's are a higher spring rate than those for aftermarket bumpers and winches to make up for the weight.
