Should be overall best in class truck again. That's some godawful high MSRP I'm seeing though.

Those numbers are lower than what's provided on Fuelly for the V6 Canyon (19.22 mpg) and Colorado (19.11 mpg).

I have always been able to meet or exceed EPA MPG estimates on any car I have driven. Problem is, people speed on the highway and are hard on the throttle in the city. I try to drive my Tacoma as gently as possible and only really driving it hard when I have to (such as getting on an on ramp or pulling my little camper trailer). I could probably get EPA estimates on the Colorado if I just drive like I'm white.

Um...I've had my Tacoma for 10 yrs...I think the majority of people cannot afford to happily replace a vehicle every 7 yrs...

Damn, the new Colorado has that stupid car-like front, with that low of an air dam, and STILL gets such crappy mpgs? What a complete joke! Imagine how bad the MPGs would be if it was lifted, leveled out, and lost the street squeegee air dam.

All bolt ons + tuning solution. Capable of running high 13's.
This is why I dont thrust EPA numbers. Fuelly is the most reliable source for fuel consumption metrics.

 street squeegie!! That's funny. Don't hate on the street squeegie, I would use one for mpgs if it were removable by means other than bashing the ground.

I mean, why do I have a feeling that the TRDOR is going to have much better ground clearance than the joke of an offroad truck, which is the Z71 Colomino? And yes, the street squeegee is real. Look at that front end! Dear God!

I heard 26 from my fleet manager who went to some dealer meet.

Also, keep in mind the atkinson cycle is only going to work at partial throttle, so it will make a bigger effect on the highway than city.
Im thinking 21/26 or there abouts for the V6 4wd.

Its all speculation. I dont claim to know anything.

I expect low city mileage just because even as efficiently as I try to drive, city can bring me to 16 sometimes. It's hard to improve city mileage on a truck IMO unless you had awesome low gearing for the first few gears.

My 02' 2.7L 4X4 ext cab 5spd averaged about 21-21.5mpg per tank in "city" driving. Only a tiny bit better on the highway. My 99' 4X4 5spd with the 3.4L was about 20mpg for the same driving.

not really a good comparison. current truck is rated 16 mpg city, a 5 mpg increase, would be pretty mother f**king impressive and a betting man would bet against.

On a side note to this debacle...I enjoy seeing the fuelly averages of the Colorado. I thought I would be taking a big hit in MPG by picking the Tacoma, and justified it by a lower sticker price. Turns out I'm not losing much (fully average is 18.4 MPG for me).

City mileage always sucks. Especially in smaller towns where you drive shorter distances with lots of stopping then turning off your car which has not had a change to warm up totally. If you live in a metro area odds are your city driving consists of hopping on the freeway to get across town or lots of 40 mph zones with long distances between stop lights. 26 mpg would be killer. That is what my old Subaru Outback got on the highway.

Unfortunately for guys like me who live close to work (7 mile commute) city is important.

I live about 1.3 miles to work. I ride my bike a lot just because it gives me time out of the office, but often times I am just lazy and drive. Especially in the winter. The bulk of my highway miles are driving 25 miles to my local mountain bike trail. Would be sweet to get there and back on two gallons of fuel. I get about 18-19 mpg on my 02 Tacoma.
