The belt has service life of 150k and looks easy to replace. The vibration damper is likely more about protecting the transmission from all that torque. I give GM credit for introducing a diesel in this segment. Since your hopes are low, even you should be impressed with the towing and mileage.

Weren't you who kept saying Tacoma is not for offroading or towing that's why no need for Disc brakes, disel or front lockers ...and most people use Tacoma for driving around the town
    :D
Crap mall crawlers are in full force today ...

Gen 2 Tacoma's especially 2005-2007 will be available for atleast next 10 - 15 years.. Actually my LC is nearing 21 years old now ... and still running. That can tell you I can keep cars running...
Gen4 Tacoma. I have a feeling there may not be another Tacoma after this one, even FJ70 is now gone from official production.
Tundra and Sequoia got very close to be canceled. Maybe thats why such a mediocre redesign on Tacoma. Toyota knows they will cancel it so they dont want to invest any money in it and just want to milk it as is.
More likely that anything instead of Tacoma we will have Hilux.

That is a badass truck. We used those several times in the middle east.

Not my pic or US army, but you get the point.

Could be someone jumping ship after a rusted frame (how does that happen in this century?) or drive line vibration.

Yeah, but wouldn't they have gotten a new frame under the recall?

I'm impressed with the numbers I've seen so far. Just not the design. I know what the vibration dampener is for, read up on what happens when it fails.

Tacoma is a great starting point for offroading. I think it's a truck with compromises. In that way we think the same. The difference is that I still see the 3.5 L engine as being more than enough for an Offroad rig.

What I keep telling you is that the Tacoma is designed for towing loads up 5000 lbs, but you never actually read everything that someone says.

You know I bet offroad we could have a lot of fun together. In my area front lockers are nice but I've never needed them. I'm debating whether or not to do them. No need to be nasty now

I got new frame under recall and its complete garbage, paint job done at that Mexico facility is even worse than what I had originally.
Spraying with Zinc and painting as we speak.
Also there are now people with 2009 frames failing inspections, no recall for them so this is going to be interesting how its goign to pan out.
There will be a lot of pissed Tacoma owners 2009+ if Toyota really refuses to replace 2009+ frames. So far no recall for 2009+ trucks its stops with 2008 because thats where Dana stopped.

Well then. Has to be some lawyers that'd start a class action. That does suck, though. Don't get me wrong.

    Good for you, Beautiful truck!
I had '09 Taco and it was fine, no problems. My Dad drove nothing but Fords, never anything else.
I keep an open mind and want to drive the best. The previous Colorado was not competitive and there have certainly been some crappy GM's over the years. Since the bailout, they are a different company, the new leadership team has some best in class products. The new Vette, Big SUV's are world class. New product about to be released look promising, New Camaro, New Malibu, New Cruze. Do some research and keep and open mind, things change.

I hate that man. They replaced the frame on my 02 , few years back no problem. Brake lines and leaf springs . And to look at it it looked fine. It failed the test on one of the center cross braces.
