Nissan Leaf? Lease one for $199 a month and save the mileage plus fuel on your truck.

I think a Nissan Leaf would be the ultimate work commuter. Your cost per mile are pennies on the dollar. Could probably charge just once a week.

If I lived in a city I'd lease one in a heartbeat. The lease, in Canada, is only 3 tanks of gas in a Tacoma. Then guilt work into setting up a plugin outside "for the environment" and you are set.

Not spending $30K+ on a new truck, buys an awful lot fuel for your existing truck. ;)

    LMAO!

according to my very fuzzy math. $35K buys about 16 years of fuel @$3.50/gallon ...20 mpg...12K miles a year driven.

Honestly, I don't know why (including myself) get all hung up splitting hairs over specs. All the while...it will be much much cheaper to keep what we already have. New truck isn't going to do anything "that" much better anyways, other than drain the bank account quicker.

Very true. The whole specs/mpg thing should only help you choose a solution to a decision to acquire a new vehicle...which was made primarily other reasons, as it is rarely cheaper to upgrade to a newer vehicle.

Gas is 20% more up here, so 13.3 years. :)

Screw that. You're spending less gas then everyone else no matter what!
Wouldn't it make more sense to do that if you drove more miles than average? Are you saying the less miles you drive, the better it would be to lease a vehicle?

I was simply saying that if I lived to far from work in a city to walk in the winter I would get a Leaf. For grocery getting, mall crawling, and getting to work the Leaf at $199/month would easily cover it's cost while my Tacoma would become a more dedicated trail rig.

The Leaf only gets a limited range. I'd be scared taking it across a big city in the heat.

If a tesla 3 is 35k, why buy a gas car at all? (Unless it's a hot rod)

True. I don't really need a new truck now and definitely can't pay for one just now. However, in a couple of years I should be ready. That will be my first brand new truck and I will probably keep my truck 10+ years.

Who else is really stoked for August 17th even though you are pretty sure some of the specs might be underwhelming? I got a circle on my calander.

I'm excited for the real specs even though it seams they may be a little underwhelming, If the engine had 300hp I would have mine on order now... The plan is to keep mine for 5 more years or for ever and just get a new one....

But getting 20 mpg with big tires and a lift would great because the closest place to off road is 3 hours away and I want off road across the country..... and the resale on these trucks are so good............
