    Wut.

I thought if you recalled something, and then that recall was not extended to other models with that issue, then that was an easy court case?

Dodge learned that with the Ram recently.

Really? That's like spreading hate on the Taco, because ISIS is running around Iraq and Syria in them!

^^^this. I don't do consumer law, but I'm sure there are other lawyers -- probably at a large LA firm -- taking clients who weren't covered under the recall and have failing or rusted frames.

Why would you run out of DEF? It only needs to be refilled at 10k intervals.

300 miles per gallon of DEF. Not 10K per tank on a Colorado.

We go through it quick at work. It's just one more replenishment thing that you might forget.

Ok then, think you'll be ok with 6000 plus intervals.

    And...

Still a consumable. I'm not saying it's a disaster offroad but it would suck if it happened.

Hey Sterdog, How do you really feel about Tundras? You picked on the ugliest one with the Ford Thunderbird wheels.

It's old. No real update to the engine of transmission in a long time. Terrible fuel economy without the HP or torque to at least excuse it. Toyota is letting it wither on the vine because they have enough sales based on just Toyota buyers and have no intent on competing on mpg, hp, torque, or towing with the big 3.

I have voted with my wallet. For the past several months, I have planned to buy a 2016 Tacoma Limited as soon as they were available. I've followed this forum and read everything I could possibly find about the 2016. I owned a 2008 Tundra Limited TRD Off-Road for 5 years. Great truck...sold it to a friend who still thinks it is a great truck. I just got tired of driving large trucks. For the past couple of years, my daily driver has been a highly-modified '13 Jeep Rubicon, but I decided a few months ago that I needed a truck again. Lately, I had been scrutinizing the GMC Canyon too.

The Toyota dealer in Delta, CO., that serviced my Tundra had instructions to call me as soon as they had their first 2016 on the lot. I wanted to drive it...sit in it...feel it. Last week, I went over to Grand Junction to the Toyota dealer (would never buy from that dealer but they were the closest). I drove a 2015 just for grins. Then I went to the GMC dealer and tested a couple of '16 Canyons.

We all know the exterior design of the new Tacoma is polarizing. I'm a Toyota fan. But no matter how much I wanted to like the exterior and interior styling of the 2016, I just couldn't convince myself that I did like it. And not a single one of the Toyota colors appealed to me. I didn't like the supposedly "masculine" angular, transformer-like, exterior styling. The re-designed 2016 interior still looks dated and cheap, in my opinion. But I drove a Toyota for several years and wanted another one...until I drove the Canyon.

The Canyon has gotten great reviews just about everywhere but on this forum. That's understandable. When talking about quality control and reliability, the "Big 3" have come a very long way just in the past 5-6 years. Once I drove the Canyon, I was hooked. The ride was far better than the '15 Toyota. The interior is light-years ahead of the Tacoma in design, materials, features, quietness, and comfort. This is the 21st century...no power seats or seat height adjustment even in the upscale Tacoma Limited? I'm sure the 2016 Tacoma will be better than the '15 that I drove, but I can't see there being that much of a difference. The Tacoma felt cramped compared to the open feeling in the Canyon.

Toyota has been very close-mouthed about mileage and horsepower/torque figures. The Toyota dealer said new 2015s were still arriving daily and Toyota wanted to push those before revealing much about the '16s. The Canyon was a known quantity...good mileage and 305 horsepower. Perhaps if more information had been available about the new Tacoma, I might have re-considered...or not.

So I ordered a '16 Canyon SLT Crew Cab in Bronze Alloy Metallic. MSRP was slightly over $40K...though that is not what I paid. The air dam will be the first thing to come off. I will leave it on for the 100-mile drive home just to see if it makes much of a mileage difference on the Interstate. Within a week or two of the truck's arrival in late September or early October, it will be lifted or at least leveled and tires switched out for BFG AT KO2s. I have Rigid LED lights on my Jeep and will most likely go with Rigid's grill/light combo very soon...unless I can figure another way to mount a sizeable LED bar. It will also get a Snugtop shell. Snugtop has told me that they will have 2 of their shell models available late this month or in early September for the Canyon. They have none at this time. One thing to consider with the Tacoma is that shells will not be available for awhile because of the re-design.

I'm confident that the Canyon will be a reliable vehicle and will take me where I need to go on Moab's trails...with a few modifications.

I registered on this forum awhile back. I have checked this forum almost daily for a couple of months...hungry for information. So, contrary to your erroneous assumption, I did not register "just to post" that I ordered a Canyon. You'll be the first to know if I have any problems with the GMC. But don't hold your breath.

I have been a very frequent and known contributor to Wrangler Forum for the past several years. I've helped a lot of people on that forum and have gotten a lot of very valuable information there also. I've lived in Moab for over 41 years, since long before it became the "adventure capitol" of the universe, and have had several Jeeps dating back 35 years. I drove numerous Ford's from F-150s to V-10 F-250s. My Tundra was better than any of them...which is why I planned on the Tacoma.

Damn....deciding to go with choice "B" less than a week before initial reviews and specifications are released? Gotta scratch the itch I guess.

Yup, guess lots of guys had to register to talk about the Colorado after "lurking" this site for years

He could tell the feel and drive of the Tacoma from pictures. Call it his meager super power.

And it's posts like yours that kept me from posting previously. While Wrangler Forum has extremely few non-worthwhile posts, you have to scroll through pages and pages of idiotic, infantile single-sentence attacks on this forum to get to something worth reading. One of your super powers does not appear to involve reading comprehension. I mentioned that I did drive a new '15 Tacoma. There can't be a vast difference between that and the 2016...except hopefully in power.

On Wrangler Forum, people actually post to help each other. Imagine that. 'nuff said.

Your first mistake was to click on a 3rd gen thread. Go anywhere else on here and the information is solid. The third gen forum is all speculation for a reason, because that's all Toyota has given us other than pictures.

There is a huge difference between a 2015 and 2016. Is the 2016 based off the 2015? Sure. Different shocks, rear end ratio, interior, transmission, and engine won't make the truck feel the same at all. I've actually been in a 2016. Check my media for pics. I posted them to "help" people who actually ask questions rather than just make statements like you. The 2016 is a different truck built on the backbone of a solid performer.

    So :brianr:

Just another Collie fan hanging around here. BTW nothing wrong with driving one, but I for one stop surfing around forums once I've gone with a different vehicle. Bragging up your Colorado on a Tacoma forum is just silly IMHO. I've been a member of Juke, Colorado, Ranger, F150, etc etc forums. The only ones that I'm still active on are F150nation and Tacomaworld, because that's what I own.

Gota justify that purchase to the rest of the world. What better validation is there than convincing others you made a good choice and to follow suit?
