I'm still new to the page and I'm not sure if anyone has done something like this. But I was hoping to see some mods that relate to firearms. It could be for storage/transport/every day carry type mods. I'm just trying to think of the best way to safely secure them in the cab and maybe a good place to have one at the ready if it's unfortunatley needed. If it's been done I'd love a link or some help getting to it. I've also seen the hidden compartment idea in the console wich is great except I would forget and drive on base with it and have the k9 all over my truck. Thanks in advance everyone!

I'm fairly certain that a hidden firearm compartment in a motor vehicle is illegal even areas where you can acquire a conceal carry permit. The best place for a handgun is in a holster on your person. I guess a strong box would be OK for short term storage but I'd never ever leave on a permanent basis a firearm in an unattended vehcile where to be stolen or broken into you just gave the bad guys a weapon.

The better route in a vehicle near vehicle situation would be to revive training in tactics developed for such situtaions. Why change the muscle memory of drawing your side arm from its holster for one unique situation? Better to adapat that unique situation to already developed muscle memory.

I know cops that sometimes draw their side arm and hold it low behind the door when approached in certain situations of course here they are reacting to a precived threat.

I see that your in the Air Force so hiding a firearm inst an option so far ad DOD is concerned. I reccomend getting stationed at Ramstein AB problem solved. Lol
Also you do realize that the SPs can search your vechile at anytime even if a dog dose not alert or is even present they will do what they want. I did augmentee duty as an SP watched them do it.

That'd be incorrect - A concealed compartment is most definitely NOT illegal - What's illegal is not disclosing that compartment if asked or if the vehicle is searched.

I appreciate the input. I fully believe training is the best way but on long trips I like to download the weapon to a more comfortable yet functional location. I am what you call an SP (now security forces) and fully understand I won't be carrying on an installation. Concealing a firearm in a vehicle is legal in the great state of Wyoming as it is considered an extension of the home. My biggest interest would be a locking case in the cab for transport to the range so they are not loose in the cab (long guns).

Do you have any links to any good vendor or have a brand you use that is a good one?

Sig 938 in home made clip behind glove box not in glove box but behind it so a gentle squeeze allows door to swing down for access. I'm in AZ so concealed carry is not a problem.

False, you are not required to disclose anything if asked. Remember you got that 5th amendment

Anyway, I keep my long guns underneath the rear seat. AR15 and shotgun fit great. Got some foam in there so they don't bounce around.

I have a conceal carry permit and conceal carry everywhere...but any gun at any location in your vehicle (locked up or not), is ILLEGAL on school properties here in nc

In nc we are taught that you do not have to tell anyone where your gun is located but you do have to tell them you have a concealed weapon

Yes! But if you get caught with it you are screwed. I know some people that carry into banks but I do not

This ENTIRELY depends on your local and state laws. This is NOT a universal nation wide law.
