thats the most effective way to get power out of it.

I would if I found a setup cheap enough.. however since my engine has 205k.. I would want to rebuild a lot of it with the SC install.

Hmm, I wonder if the valve train would be able to survive revving "to the moon". You may have an issue with valve float.

Remember this is a slow turning, torque pushing, truck motor. Even its slightly sportier brother the 3VZ-FE (not to be confused with the lethargic 3VZ-E) isn't a high revving beast. The 3VZ-FE cams are supposed to reduce the torque curve in favor of more top end HP but still has a rather low RPM limit.

Good luck finding one. The 1st gens, especially, sell within a day or so on here. When they're up for sale.

Well the valve train will be rebuilt along with everything else on the engine hopefully built in such a way that it can rev significantly.

Bud, do you want to make power, or do you want it to rev?
If you want it to rev, you will be spending alot of money on bottom end, valves, springs, cams, standalone ECU, etc. You will be well over 7k without a turbo/supercharger, all for a measly 40-50hp.
If you are worried about the engine, buy a low mileage JDM import and swap it in. they are $1000-$1500. Seriously, learn from me, i started my build when i was 20 :).

I'm gonna end up rebuilding the bottom and top ends anyway, my goal is for power, yes, but i would also like for it to be able to rev high and not have that be its only purpose.

Brings back memories of my misguided youth !!

Looking at the big budget builds in Hot Rod magazine .

I think we all go through this in one way or another.

I wish I had spent the money back then on good tools instead of go fast car parts.

Then back in the day in the early seventies lots less traffic.
