    Yeah.
I like the SRAM 1x11 setup, but my bike has been in the shop for over a week now -- SRAM is replacing my $300 11-speed cassette under warranty, thank goodness. One of the cogs bent causing the chain to blow apart. I was downshifting going up a rise, but really not very hard on the gas at the time.

I know that feeling. My bike has been in the shop for a week and a half waiting for the wheels to get fixed (apparently riding a wheel with loose spokes can result in a bent rim).

I've been lucky, my SRAM drivetrain has worked splendidly for me.

Had a downhill rig for years. But after taking a really bad spill snowboarding and breaking my wrist/arm in multiple locations was to difficult to support my weight on it on the downhill runs.
Now after a couple of years of rehab on my wrist went shopping for an Enduro style bike all I can say is how can people afford them?!?! Most of these bikes cost more than my first and second car, maybe not combined but each on their own.

It was quite a large pill to swallow. I justified it to myself with the fitness aspect. I can't do running anymore because of the Army, but pedaling really doesn't hurt my knee. My bike also cost more than my first car. It's sad.

Bikes these days certainly aren't cheap. Sure, there are less expensive options, but the fully decked out models are crazy expensive. I am lucky that my LBS gives me some great discounts, but even with those savings, my DH bike was still over 7k... That said, for my new enduro bike, I decided to go a different route and bought a YT Capra Comp 1. Full Rock Shox build(Pike, Monarch Plus) With a reverb dropper, 1x11, Carbon frame and e13 wheels. Basically a build that would cost upwards of 6k with other brands, cost me $4,300 from YT.. While still not considered "cheap", considering what you get for the money, it's a bargain... Frankly, the bike also rides better than most of what I demo'd(Nomad, Yeti sb6c, Mojo HD3 and Pivot Mach 6).. The build I bought is is the middle of their range, so are even less expensive options out there.. Certainly worth a look if nothing else.

    Yeah.
This^ for me as well. Not young anymore, but like to act like it as much as I can, so I need to do something to keep in shape. Tried running, but my knee can't take the impact (high school football injury). Grew up on BMX bikes, rode mountain bikes later (late 80's and early 90's) not far from where that Austin pic above was taken (Barton Creek Greenbelt) before they had suspension. Heck, we rode single-speed converted cruisers with coaster brakes, and now that would be considered cool! We was just po'.

Anyway, yeah, both of my mountain bikes cost more than my first 4 cars, almost combined! But a small price to pay for the physical and mental health they help provide.

    Yeah.
We've had our share of rain up here in the St Louis area, and one of my favorite local trails is mixed-use. The equestrians aren't really bothered by mud and apparently can't read or are short on good sense (or both) and have torn up some really nice sections -- sections that were built by the local MTB community (me included). Most of it is healing with tires getting out on it, but afraid some sections won't heal without some work. And you won't see the equestrians out there fixing things.

    Rant over.

I miss Walnut Creek and City Park, the greenbelt and Lake Georgetown. But, I live within 10 minutes of 4 trail systems here that are as good or better.

The same is true here. You will often hear that mtb is what ruins trails. And while you do see some tire tracks, the bulk of the damage is done by horses and no one wants to talk about that.

Went for a ride in the 90+ degrees this morning. Was a great time minus the heat.

Awesome new brakes. Possibly the best upgrade I've made to this bike.

I personally despise anything over 80 but my parents saw fit to raise me in NC. That being said, if we want to ride more than 2 months of spring and 2 months of fall, we have to ride in the heat. All summer it's been at least 90+ riding after work. 3 days a week. Few days were 98 or so and that's just miserable.

I just upgraded to the Ice-Rotors this weekend also. Jumped to the 203/180... man what a difference in stopping power.

It topped 100 a couple days ago while riding up a mountain. Used every bit of my 3 litre Camelback. Several times I thought about turning back but at one point, it would have been easier to just finish the ride than to pedal back.

I despise the heat. Ever since getting to enjoy the mild heat from an Afghan summer at over 120, I hate anything over 75, hahaha. Sadly, a friend was out for only a couple days and we all wanted to go for a ride.

I was having serious brake fade with the original SRAM Centerline rotors (180/160). I heard these guys did a fantastic job of disapatting the heat so I swapped them in (203/203). They did just fine on their own doing easier downhill runs.

Seriously my new favorite part on my bike. They just instill so much more confidence on the crazy single tracks I've been doing lately. I kept hearing that they were OFF/ON feeling, but I really don't notice that (unless I grab a handful of brake and then, it's enough to throw you over the bars.)

yeah im not too much further north and thats about what its been here. i haven't ridden too much recently though cause i work out in the sun during the summer. im too lazy to go out in the sun more than i need to haha luckily it should start cooling down a bit here
thats terrible. i don't mind riding in the cold, rain or snow but i can't stand the heat like that. i heat up way too quick for that. i wore baggy shorts over my bib and almost took them off half way thru.
