Was actually thinking about that.. Lol

Maybe I'll drive the wife's TC for a while.

Need to just be appreciative.. Its tough tho.. Ideally I wish I could go back in time so I could keep my truck and redo things

tacos?? :D with what engine at the time? lol

I know its easy to just say keep it.. but its not that easy for me.. my OCD seriously controls my life.. to the point where I'm looking into help..

I want to start over.. but i know its probably not the best option.. especially regarding the financial aspects..

I could dump money into my truck now, fix it up, but it still wont be as good as a new truck.

Ok, I understand what you mean about OCD. That is me too 100%. My passenger side firewall is tubbed right now and I haven't had time to do the driver side and it annoys the shit out of me haha. But anyways. Your truck might now be "as good as a new truck" if what you want is a new truck. Something you can depend on day in and day out and just drive. I get that. But what makes it your truck then. What brought you to this forum in the first place is the want to be different. You own a truck currently that stands out from others. It's clean, fast, and very capable. You still care about it, but if you get a scratch on it you might not care as much as you would on a new truck. My point is, that it's a trade off. Sure you might worry about the reliability of your truck now, and a few things might bother you (You can work to fix those though). With a new truck you'll worry about door dings and paint care and what mods will ruin warranty or not. You say you won't change anything, but I would bet money after 6 months you get bored with it.

Thanks Connor, I really appreciate the time and thought you put into that post.

thats essentially where im at.. fix the truck and possibly be "ok" with it after..

or start new.. IF i start new.. i can guarantee i will leave it alone as much as I can. already have a VERY small mod list for a new one. Im talking OME F/R to level it (possibly my Kings and my newly rebuilt, uninstalled Camburg uppers, if this private sell works out). stock leaf pack. stock interior/stereo. stock lighting. etc

the things that irritate my OCD are the things ive modded.. so the cure for that. is to just not mod it. No performance BS, no crazy expensive lighting that i dont need, etc. just a comfortable DD 4x4 truck to get me camping, hunting, and occasional easy weekend trip. nothing to jeopardize the truck.

if theres nothing to fix, mod, etc.. theres nothing to be anal about and have me OCD take over. Out of sight, Out of mind kind of thing.

Your plan for a new truck pretty much defines my current truck. I can't say it's a bad plan at all man. Less hassle, less to fiddle with and a lot less to be annoyed about. Of course the trade off is having a payment and possibly more expensive insurance. Regardless, everything has a trade off and it's up to you to decide where your threshold is. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered getting a 16 tacoma. Then I asked myself "why""? My 12 will be paid off in November, is in near perfect condition and hasn't caused me any problems at all. In the end it came down to vanity and having "the latest and greatest", which I certainly dont need, and rather am looking forward to getting rid of a monthly payment.. You seem like a smart and thoughtful dude, so in the end I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.

    I love Jerry. Lol

    Thanks for the post man..

Thats where I want to be.. In your shoes essentially.

The other thing that makes me want to keep the truck, is I only owe 8k. The financial part is a major factor. I pay a flat 2 Bills a month for my truck now.

BUT.. Another good thing if I sold my truck, I could use part of the money to pay off 7k in CC debt (which is great on its own, plus would free up some moola for a higher truck payment that is inevitable) be debt free (minus the truck) and have a brand new truck and be worry free.

There are so many variables, that's what makes it hard.

sooo... what if I went with a 15 taco rather than a brand new 16. price, known reliability, still new with all the nice features, and more parts will swap over..

how significant would the price difference be? especially when the 16's hit the lot.

They are still highly sought after.. some think they won't drop at all because they aren't being produced anymore and with an all new setup with the 3rd gens some people are only gonna want a brand new tried and true model, but really it's all speculation and matter of opinion.

yeah i figured they would still be in demand, but the original price of a 2nd gen is still cheaper than the price of a new 3rd gen.. 36k+ for an off road.. an equally equipped 15 (would be used at that time) has to be significantly cheaper than that right??
