Go to a different dealer or call the fleet guy. Tell them you have the specs and want a place in line. I don't think technically they are supposed to pre-sell any of their allocation but some seem to have a way of getting around it. Also, if all you were talking to was some sales schmo on the floor he may not know anything. Most big dealerships have an internet department, call them - they are there to move vehicles as fast as they can to keep the dealership sales velocity numbers up and hence the dealership allocations up. They are also less fussy about negotiating down from MSRP and will usually go up from invoice or even invoice - holdback. The new taco .. no one is going to start at invoice - holdback though. Call a bunch and tell them what you want - some may have what you want already allocated and put your name on it or at least take your name for the next batch of allocations. If none of that makes sense go google and read around on the Toyota allocation process for a while.

The inventory manager can go into the allocation and ordering system and change specs of what they have allocated. Seen it happen - it's a thing of beauty.

If, and it is a big if, there is inventory to be allocated :) Right now there is near zero nationwide on the 2016's ... those monthly numbers we've been seeing on the leaked pricing sheets - cut that in 1/2 and that is what has been allocated so far back on 8/1 across the whole nation. The overall numbers - those sheets spec the SoCal area allocations by model but IIRC there was a total number of ~1500/month on the top - so maybe ~750 have been allocated nationwide to date. Dealer told me there were 3 DCLBOR HH & FP allocated to the Colorado dealers in round 1 ... all spoken for by the time I got to them. That truck is going to sell like a powder day on a Saturday around here. (for the non skiers it's a nearly mythical thing to get one of those)

That's the first upclose photo I've seen of the Orange. I was worried it was 'too orange' and without a candy apple metallic look. It does look similar to the Rav4 orange. I think I like it. That is...unless it sucks when I see one in person. LOL

I would trade one of my 14 cupholders for an ash tray any day. Oddly, my FJ80 has an ashtray but no usable cupholders. I guess smokers were replaced with caffeine addicts sometime in the 90's?

Maybe, it was new to me. In retrospect I should have enthusiastically created a new thread about it, being tw and all.

That's OK, I can start a new thread to talk about whether or not you should have started a new thread.
