driverside wheel problem/suspension maybe??

dropped my truck today after this horrible sound was coming from my driver side front wheel area.....toyota thinks its suspension just from looking at it, but im more convinced it the caliper or something of that nature. it sounds like when the wheel hits a certain spot under 20 mph it clings like a metal tube hitting the ground. has this ever happened to anyone? there was no offroading involved it just was like that when i woke up this morning, and toyota wanted 98$$ to just look at it. All in all it was not a good day

 

damn right about that. they cant charge you shit since its under warranty!!!!

sounds like a sticking caliper may be the culprit. do you notice any difference when you start braking??

 

ya i've never heard of such a charge and gave the guy a hard time about it. i looked at the steering components and wheel and tires etc... i don't know THAT much about cars but im learning and from what i saw nothing seemed to be wrong. I'm really worried because they started to blame offroading as the culprit because i had some mud on my truck from going through a mud puddle ont the way to my buddy's house. ill try the 800# and give em' a piece of my mind. and now i have no transportation and im really missing my truck badly

 

oh and yes when i brake it goes away..if that's important then when i start to go it starts up again it was really loud and embarrassing haha i got many looks, but not in the good way

 

sounds like to me then, your rotor or rotors may be glazed over, and that will definitely cause a metallic type sound. hope you get it fixed soon and get the truck back asap. let us know what it is.

 

they found the culprit...a rock between the rotor and teh caliper he said. that's at least what the first guy said so i asked his manager he told me a totally different story that it was "in the backplate" which i found to be rediculous. charged me 30 bucks for a brake inspection. im not happy

 

That sucks they charged you...but atleast they found it.

If you ever hear that kinda noise again - put your truck in reverse and hit the brakes a few times. That should help dislodge any debris/rocks in there.

 

probobly the greatest part of it all is when i asked how big the rock was he showed me with his hands, first a watermelon size, then tennis-ball size, then pebble sized....haha

 

Dealer pricks. I am about to go to war regarding the suspension TSB.

 

hope you get it done with too big a hassle man!! just take a copy of the tsb with you and tell them you are tired of bottoming out. let us know what happens!!
