Looking to see or hear from anyone who has added a front plate bumper and sliders. I'd like to know which springs and shocks you used, what setting and what was the height gained on a double cab short bed PreRunner. I'm looking to just do the front and not lift the back. I'm thinking the Bilstein 5100 and either 884 or 885 as I'm only trying to gain the 1.5 - 1.75 up to level it with the Pelfreybilt armor. Ultimately if I could level it and maintain the comfort I'd be happy until I need to replace the tries and then I might just go up to 32s.

He's probably in bed like a responsible person.

But he has sliders, plate bumper, V6 4x4 DCSB and he sits about the same height as me (1.75") or slightly lower with 885s. You may get away with 884s and a spacer but I would probably try 885s personally. I'll try and post a pic of his truck next to mine. Gimme a second.

Thanks James. I am really torn between the 2. For now my goal is to just get up between 1.5-1.75" after loading the armor up. In a couple of years when I wear the tires down I might consider going 3" up front and 1.5" out back but no sense tear up a brand new truck at this point. It's funny because I see guys getting 3" out of 885s and when I added 115# on my bumper and another 100# in the cab the nose only dipped 3/8"

I do know you mentioned him before but I tried to find pics of his rig but never located them.

    There you go. ;)

I'm at 1.75 with 5100s and he has 885s and OME shocks I believe. Only difference is his transfer case weight, but figure he is around 1.75 as well with the same bolt ons. I doubt the transfer case itself occupies too much of that height just in its own weight, but can't say. 884s and spacers might be a more customizable option over the 885s without spacers as well.

Thanks bud. Maybe the 885s and all that weight just might do it. If I'm nose high I can simply add a leaf I guess. I prefer not to use spacers. I know you just used the 5100 shocks for height. Can you run 885s on the stock shocks?

I dunno about stock shocks. I know you can on 5100s, so I would think you're able to but I can't say I've ever looked into that.

I did 885s with spacer. After adding all the armor I definitely wish i would have gone with 886s. the front end just sagged and feels to soft too much with the extra weight.
This is after installing lift without armor. Also have progressive AALimage.jpg

What size wheels and tires are those? How much did adding the armor drop the truck?

Not sure how much it dropped. Never took any measurements unfortunately. I can take a pic later for comparison

I'd really appreciate additional pics. Thanks. And if you could briefly measure to the bottom of the flares I'll have a good estimate as well.

Looking good Blake! How much gear is back there in the pic? And are these measurements unsprung? IE no load in the truck except for the armor?

go with the 885s you won't be disappointed. If you go 886s you should change from Bilsteins to OME. Plus you are a prerunner like me so you should be where you want to be lift wise with the plate bumper and sliders.

But will you be adding a winch?

My lift wise goal is between 1.5-1.75" until I use the truck for a couple of years, I just don't believe in throwing out perfectly good shocks and springs. It's a mall crawler and definitely won't be wheeled so I'd never add a winch. Ultimately I'd like to just change out the front coils and shocks, improve the ride and appreciate the added protection a bumper and slider give my family in case of any traffic accident.

my opinion is the the billies and 885s with the armor. I think that would put you where you want to be
