    I didn't edit anything.

Jeesh you guys are touchy... I don't like the 5' bed. What, I can't not like something? Lol...

No, the thing is, for me, I don't see the practicality of it. I just think they are limiting in terms of what you can carry back there...

Don't be a moron. You say you hate the 5' bed. Okay fine. But that's like 50% of the trucks on this site. So don't act surprised when people give you shit for it.

I know everyone has their preferences. LB/SB we could go on forever with this. I didn't know this would turn into such a lively thread. Ha! One thing we can all agree on is that people like or need what they like or need and it may not be what you like or need. I hired a team of specialized scientists and engineers with degrees from various disciplines and they were subsequently locked in the laboratory for 4 months and were given no food or water and were told that they could not come out until they came up with results on what would be better: long bed or short bed. Turns out they became cannibals and the last one alive had to be put down, so I never got an answer. I came from a full size truck. I had to get a smaller one for a bunch of different reasons. I went with DCLB. Drove it around and abused the thing for a while and it still didn't fit my needs exactly. Sure the extra space is always useful, but I'm not hauling stuff every day. I'm thankful for it when I do need it though. So my wants and needs changed a bit and now I'm DCSB. So far, it does what I need it to do. I don't have the money to get a second vehicle, but if I did, I'd get a big ass diesel truck and tiny commuter like a Miata. For now, my little Tacoma does everything I ask of it and I have fun driving it everyday. So there...

Aesthetically, I prefer the DCSB; but pretty much every time I need to put something in the bed of my truck I'm glad went with the DCLB. The extra wheel base length hasn't been too much of an issue when off-roading, either.

All else being equal, what is the benefit of the SB over the LB? Shorter wheelbase? Anything else?

All the threads end the same. Prerunner v. 4x4, longbed v. Short, 3rd gen v. 2nd gen v. 1st gen etc. Ad infinitum.

Oh I didn't realize you switched to a SB. Haha. They look better IMO. More balanced.

An argument could be made for both aesthetically. I will say this though: Driving the stock long bed to the dealer for trade in was weird as hell and it definitely didn't look right without the lift. Glad I went SB. I may cuss a bit next time I have to haul full sheets, but there's a compromise either way.

Ok, my weigh in as a DCLB owner is that the DCSB' s look more balanced and probably are better for serious off-roading BUT,, a well set up LB looks more beefy truck like. Having said that, I went LB, because my skis don't fit in an SB. Also, as my wife likes to glamp, even with a car top carrier on my bed cover, we can barely fit all the gear. My last truck was a Tundra DCLB which was just WAY to big to park but fit all the gear.

Door ding- RTT? Ahahahaha! I haven't found one that will fit a queen size aerobed! That is the min requirement for wife/ rugged princess. However, I am thinking about turning this truck into an overland for me, and getting a small motor home for trips with the Warden...ummm, I mean my beloved.
